1 [630] 1 1 2 Whereas, the YMCA of Pickens County is part of a national 3 movement that serves nine million children per year, that is the 4 nation’s largest childcare provider, that currently serves one in ten 5 teens, and that incorporates the values of caring, honesty, respect, 6 and responsibility into all of its programs; and 7 8 Whereas, the YMCA movement has a long history of partnership 9 with other community organizations, such as schools, hospitals, 10 and police departments; and 11 12 Whereas, the one hundred fiftieth anniversary of the YMCA 13 movement will draw special public attention to the distinguished 14 history of the organization and to benefits that the people of South 15 Carolina have enjoyed as a result of the proud tradition of this 16 organization. Now, therefore, 17 18 Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives 19 concurring: 20 21 That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South 22 Carolina, by this resolution, take great pleasure in congratulating 23 the YMCA of Pickens County on the celebration of the one 24 hundred fiftieth anniversary of the YMCA movement and 25 acknowledge with great pride the positive impact this organization 26 has had on the Pickens County Community. 27 28 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to 29 Mr. Burnie Whitson, Chief Executive Officer of the Pickens 30 County YMCA, 201 Burns Road, Easley, South Carolina 29640. 31 ----XX----
