1) HOME

Nearly every elected, and would-be elected person asking for your support, claims to be a fiscal conservative and will say they understand that we are being taxed and regulated to death. It is however, difficult to find those who know why taxes continue to increase and even more difficult to find those who have a clue on solving these problems.

My record as a public official is verifiable history that I am a defender of every taxpayers in McHenry County; my ability to stand strong when it counts; and, other issues outlined in the following pages are only a few reasons I have announced my candidacy for the March 15, 2016 - Republican Primary Election for McHenry County Board in Dist. 6.

Every time I enter the voting booth I am an informed voter because i do my homework on each candidate. Since I am asking for your support, I want you to know and understand me. Please review the following pages and forward this link to those you think should get to know me as well.

I am placing my name on the March 15, 2016 Primary Election ballot for the McHenry County Board from District 6.

I ask for your support and vote; however, I do need you to understand that I am not a candidate who goes along with the crowd to be popular… I fully understand that we cannot afford “yes” men and women in these elected positions. My record, often to my own detriment, is that I do stand up for you and against those who say... “don’t rock the boat,” “just go along…” with more of the same taxing and spending!

Government does not give you anything it hasn’t taken from someone else… i.e. taxes! Most running for elected office state that they are in the race because they think we need to “reduce taxes.” Somehow it is always someone else needing to figure out what that means.

Here is what we can do...

The only way to halt government’s insatiable appetite for our hard earned money is to elect people who are capable of identifying the cause for increasing taxes; understand the history of issues; able to work for solutions that will actually reduce taxes; and be able to stand strong in the face of political pressures.

Having served on the county board in the past, I have the experience and understand the history that makes me dangerous to the elite political class in McHenry County. I work on issues, ignoring political pressure. Most elected to office do not grasp that concept and are quickly sucked into the fold. They succumb to political power brokers and the need to be seen as being with the “in-crowd.”

At the county board meeting of September15, 2015, I presented a document to the county board chairman.

This document, “Proposing Cost Reductions for McHenry County Government,” offers an “overview” and “recommendations” for each of 7 sample areas of county government where reduction of services could be realized. Should you be interested in discussing these recommendations you can contact me at 815-338-2207; [email protected] .

These suggestions, while they may be controversial and make some people uncomfortable, will reduce county government by MILLIONS. The discussions are needed. This is where it must begin.

As of this date, and from current information, the document is being ignored! Our county board members must willing and capable of beginning these serious decisions.

Every taxpayer in this county deserves nothing less.

I ask for your support and vote on 3/15/16 to continue this work on our behalf.

3) Reducing TAXES A Document Proposing Cost Reductions for McHenry County Government

"I hope we have once again reminded people that man is not free unless government is limited. There's a clear cause and effect here that is as neat and predictable as a law of physics: as government expands, liberty contracts." Ronald Reagan

With this as my compass... and working with taxpayers from all corners of McHenry County, I have produced a document outlining 7 examples where the McHenry County Board could save residents millions of dollars in the county's general fund alone.

I placed this document in the County Board Chairman's hand at the 9/15/15 county board meeting. To view the document, click on the PDF icon at the upper left side of this page Once it is downloads, click the PDF file at the lower left corner to open the document.

I welcomed your input as it is intended as a starting point!

10) County Board Member Duties Duties and Responsibilities of County Board Members

Illinois has more local governments than nearly all other states in the nation, totaling nearly 8,000 units. County boards are relatively new as they were established in the early 1970's when changes were made to the Illinois State Constitution. The change was intended to more equitably address the one-man-one-vote concept.

Prior to that, the county board was made up of the 17 township supervisors, called the County Board of Supervisors. With the changes made in the 1970's, the county board added a new layer of government adding 24 new public officials.

At this time, the county was divided into 3 county board districts. Each of the three districts had 8 members. Since that time the county has changed this makeup to 6 districts with 4 members per district.

County government in Illinois provide a variety of services. The number of services generally depends on citizen demand. Among these services are law enforcement for the unincorporated areas, maintaining jails, the judicial systems, county road building and maintenance, operating the county election system, the county nursing home, emergency services, land planning and zoning enforcement, over-site of all public records, and public health services to name a few.

11) District 6 Know Your County Board District 6 Area... Have you ever wondered why our taxes are so high? The map to the right some important insight on that subject.

Our district, McHenry County Board District 6, encompasses more than the entire western half of the county. It includes all 8 western townships; Hebron and Greenwood Townships at the north end of Woodstock; and 4 precincts in Grafton Township on the west side of Highway 47 in Huntley area.

County Board Dist. 6 has the largest amount of open land in McHenry County. Promoters of rapid development, often supported by public officials from the heavily populated eastern portion of the county, see rural western McHenry County as their "sand-box." Too often the goal is to see that it mirrors the populated areas east of Rte 47... namely, roof tops and asphalt.

Contrary to what we are told, development does not pay its way, we pay. We pay through increased taxes required to meet the demands of that development. i.e. more schools, roads, water & sewer, sidewalks etc.

District 6 has only 4 of 24 county board members representing our districts’ interests. Some of our 4 members joining the 20 other members on issues that undermine our local taxpayers.

We need STRONG and EXPERIENCED LEADERS, dedicated to the needs and challenges we face in County Board District 6.
