ISHRS 26th World Conclusion: “Combination grafting” is a good method to use to treat higher grades of hair loss as well Congress/Hollywood as to enhance the results of hair transplantation in suitable patients. Key words: combination grafting, FUE, Norwood grade INTRODUCTION Hair transplantation is becoming a very popular procedure. The demand for higher density coverage with a normal appearance is increasing. This requires a higher number of donor hair follicles. The biggest limitation of the hair transplant procedure is the discrepancy between demand and supply. Beard and body hair are a good source of donor hair follicles.1,2 We use “combination grafting” in which scalp hair follicles are transplanted with body hair follicles. Combination grafting is a similar procedure to mixed grafting in which multifollicular units (MFUs) are mixed with follicular units (FUs). This not only increases the total number of donor hair follicles but it also enhances results because of the higher diameter and visual density of beard hair. Although body hair other than the beard is thinner, it certainly adds to the coverage value and is better than scalp micropigmentation. Beard hair typically is thicker and curlier, giving higher visual density, and is used in the forelock and mid-scalp area. Beard, chest, and other body areas are non-scalp sources of donor hair follicles and their growth is androgen-dependent, which is an advantage in androgenetic alopecia. OBJECTIVE We used a combination of body hair follicles and scalp hair follicles to enhance the visual density of hair transplantation and provide better coverage for higher grades of scalp hair loss. Chapter 2 Provisional chapter Anatomy and Physiology of Hair Anatomy and Physiology of Hair Bilgen Erdoğan ğ AdditionalBilgen Erdo informationan is available at the end of the chapter Additional information is available at the end of the chapter http://dx.doi.org/10.5772/67269 Abstract Hair is one of the characteristic features of mammals and has various functions such as protection against external factors; producing sebum, apocrine sweat and pheromones; impact on social and sexual interactions; thermoregulation and being a resource for stem cells. Hair is a derivative of the epidermis and consists of two distinct parts: the follicle and the hair shaft. The follicle is the essential unit for the generation of hair. The hair shaft consists of a cortex and cuticle cells, and a medulla for some types of hairs. Hair follicle has a continuous growth and rest sequence named hair cycle. The duration of growth and rest cycles is coordinated by many endocrine, vascular and neural stimuli and depends not only on localization of the hair but also on various factors, like age and nutritional habits. Distinctive anatomy and physiology of hair follicle are presented in this chapter. Extensive knowledge on anatomical and physiological aspects of hair can contribute to understand and heal different hair disorders. Keywords: hair, follicle, anatomy, physiology, shaft 1. Introduction The hair follicle is one of the characteristic features of mammals serves as a unique miniorgan (Figure 1). In humans, hair has various functions such as protection against external factors, sebum, apocrine sweat and pheromones production and thermoregulation. The hair also plays important roles for the individual’s social and sexual interaction [1, 2].

SÉRIE ANTROPOLOGIA 145 BLACK MUSIC OF ALL COLORS. THE CONSTRUCTION OF BLACK ETHNICITY IN RITUAL AND POPULAR GENRES OF AFRO-BRAZILIAN MUSIC José Jorge de Carvalho Brasília 1993 Black Music of all colors. The construction of Black ethnicity in ritual and popular genres of Afro-Brazilian Music. José Jorge de Carvalho University of Brasília The aim of this essay is to present an overview of the charter of Afro-Brazilian identities, emphasizing their correlations with the main Afro-derived musical styles practised today in the country. Given the general scope of the work, I have chosen to sum up this complex mass of data in a few historical models. I am interested, above all, in establishing a contrast between the traditional models of identity of the Brazilian Black population and their musics with recent attempts, carried out by the various Black Movements, and expressed by popular, commercial musicians who formulate protests against that historical condition of poverty and unjustice, forging a new image of Afro- Brazilians, more explicit, both in political and in ideological terms. To focus such a vast ethnographic issue, I shall analyse the way these competing models of identity are shaped by the different song genres and singing styles used by Afro-Brazilians running through four centuries of social and cultural experience. In this connection, this study is also an attempt to explore theoretically the more abstract problems of understanding the efficacy of songs; in other words, how in mythopoetics, meaning and content are revealed in aesthetic symbolic structures which are able to mingle so powerfully verbal with non-verbal modes of communication.

  • Hair Removal & Skin Rejuvenation Machine
Hair Removal & Skin Rejuvenation Machine IPL Hair Removal IPL laser hair removal is a very popular method of hair removal. An IPL laser uses “intense pulsed light” to gently and safely removes hair on the face, legs, back, and bikini/pubic areas. The pulses of light focus their heat on the hair follicles, destroying them without burning or damaging the skin. IPL laser hair removal is quick and veritably painless. Side effects are few, but may include redness or swelling of the treated area; this should disappear rapidly. Good candidates for IPL laser hair removal will have lighter skin and darker hair, since IPL targets pigment in the hair follicles. Many people have experienced permanent hair removal with this method; if hair does grow back, it is often sparse and finer in texture. Laser Hair removal. Laser hair removal is a gentle and effective way to permanently reduce unwanted hair from virtually any area of the body. Locate a laser hair removal clinic in your area and acquire information on the latest laser hair removal options for men and women by reading the sections below. Laser Hair Removal Procedure Laser hair removal is most effective when hair is in the growth stage. Because hair grows in cycles, laser hair removal patients typically require a series of four to six sessions spaced approximately one month apart for maximum results. www.globalclinic.co During Laser Hair Removal Treatment Typically, the areas to be treated are shaved a few days prior to the laser hair removal treatment. On the day of the procedure, an anesthetic cream may be applied, although this step is not necessary.

INTRODUCTION Hirsutism is the excessive growth of facial or body hair on women. Hirsutism can be seen as coarse, dark hair that may appear on the face, chest, abdomen, back, upper arms, or upper legs. Hirsutism is a symptom of medical disorders associated with the hormones called androgens. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), in which the ovaries produce excessive amounts of androgens, is the most common cause of hirsutism and may affect up to 10% of women. Hirsutism is very common and often improves with medical management. Prompt medical attention is important because delaying treatment makes the treatment more difficult and may have long-term health consequences. OVERVIEW OF NORMAL HAIR GROWTH Understanding the process of normal hair growth will help you understand hirsutism. Each hair grows from a follicle deep in your skin. As long as these follicles are not completely destroyed, hair will continue to grow even if the shaft, which is the part of the hair that appears above the skin, is plucked or removed.

  • Puberty Changes in Boys
PUBERTY CHANGES IN BOYS The changes of puberty in boys include growth of testes, growth of the penis, growth of pubic hair, voice change, and height spurt. An individual boy may begin his changes at a time different from his peers. TESTES DEVELOPMENT Growth of testes is usually the first change for boys. The scrotum lengthens and becomes a darker color. These changes begin between 9 ½ and 13 ½ years of age. PENIS DEVELOPMENT Growth of the penis occurs between ages 10 and 14. PUBIC HAIR Pubic hair and underarm hair appear between the ages of 10 and 14. At first the hair is fine and thin but becomes curly and coarse over time. GROWTH SPURT Increased height and change in body shape with broadening shoulders begin between the ages of 11 and 16. The voice also deepens. During this time, a boy may notice some temporary breast enlargement. This is completely normal, very common, and is no cause for concern. It will disappear with time. FACIAL AND CHEST HAIR Facial and chest hair appear at around age 17. The thickness of the beard is quite variable and depends on genes. Some men have little or no chest hair and very light beards, while others have dense growth. The amount of hair is unrelated to masculinity. ERECTIONS / EJACULATIONS Erections occur more often during puberty; sometimes a boy will have an erection for no apparent reason – this is common and normal. Ejaculation, the release of semen from the penis, begins during puberty. Like erections, ejaculation can occur for no obvious reason, especially during sleep.
