HAVE YOU TURNED IN YOUR COLLEGE APPLICATIONS? Many colleges have December 1st deadlines for early admission and/or consideration for merit scholarships. IF YOU ARE TRYING TO MEET A DECEMBER 1 DEADLINE, APPLICATIONS MUST BE TURNED IN IMMEDIATELY! If you are applying online, be sure to login to parchment and request your transcripts as well as request your SAT/ACT scores be sent through College Board.

TIPS FOR SUBMITTING SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS:

1. Do college applications well in advance of the deadline.

2. Mail all required forms and documents in the same package to avoid lost forms, incomplete submissions, and disqualification.

3. Submit only documents that are requested. Additional information is not used to determine the applicant’s status.

4. Submit all requested information in the form required (example: G.P.A. in a 4-point grade scale).

5. Basic musts for students and counselors: [1] write clearly; [2] complete all required information; [3] complete only those sections designated for you; [4] secure all required signatures; [5] read instructions carefully; and [6] submit only the information requested.

6. When submitting tax information for financial need, be sure the form shows the adjusted gross income, the number of dependents covered by that income, and any other required data. The first page of the standard Federal 1040 tax return provides that information. Submit only copies of tax forms unless originals are required.

7. Apply for scholarships for which you are qualified.

8. Answer only the questions asked when given the opportunity for a written response. Additional information is not used to determine the applicant’s status.

*FAFSA:

·  FIRST STEP: High school seniorsandtheir parents need to create FSA IDs.This is the electronic signature for theFAFSA.

·  Students will be able to start filing the 18-19 school yearFAFSAstartingOctober 1, 2017.Some colleges and universities may use this early application for making estimated award packages for students, not all colleges will do this. Students should contact the schools they are interested in attending or visit their college web sites to determine filing deadlines.

·  The 18-19FAFSAwill use 2016 income information. (YOU CANNOT USE YOUR TAXES FOR THIS YEAR.)For the majority of parents and students, tax returns have been filed for the 2016 calendar year. Many will be able to take advantage of the IRS Data Retrieval Tool built into theFAFSA.

*Parchment:

Remember to request your transcript electronically at www.parchment.com. You can access the site through the WCHS Guidance page and click on the icon for “Order my transcript”. You will need to create an account and you will have to have taken the SAT or the ACT to create an account.

*Scholarships: There are many more scholarships located on the school website under “Guidance” tab.

The 21st Century Scholarship Covenant

The scholarship covenant is only available for 21st Century Scholars and is designed to supplement the 21st Century Scholarship and to help students with high financial need earn college degrees. Students need to apply and be accepted by IU Bloomington. For more information, stop by the guidance department.

CBC/Vectren Lead the Way Creative Scholarship

America’s Farmers Grow Ag Leaders

Agriculture is more than just farming – it’s thousands of careers in a variety of fields. So America’s Farmers Grow Ag Leaders, presented by Monsanto, would like to give the opportunity to earn a $1,500 scholarship to further your education. Your application must be endorsed by three active farmers to be considered. Applications available online at https://www.ffa.org/scholarships on November 15, 2017.

University of St. Francis – Talent Day Scholarship

Talent Day is an opportunity for new students interested in attending the University of St. Francis to submit a portfolio or audition for scholarships. A School of Creative Arts faculty member will critique the portfolios and auditions. From this review, students will be awarded talent scholarships to attend USF. IUPUI Honors College

Incoming freshmen who apply for admission to IUPUI for fall 2018 by December 1, 2017, and meet the following criteria are offered an IUPUI Chancellor’s Scholarship AND direct admission to the IUPUI Honors College: a cumulative high school GPA of 3.75 and a minimum ACT composite score of 28 or SAT score of 1250 or higher (SAT critical reading and math scores combined).

GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program

The GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program annually awards roughly 20 college-bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship with $10,000 renewable scholarship – up to $40,000 total per recipient. Ronald McDonald House Charities – U.S. Scholarship Program

Graduating high school seniors can visit www.rmhc.org for more information or apply today at http://aim.applyists.net/RMHC. The RMHC Scholarship Program seeks to invest in students who are exemplary role models in their communities and have the initiative to fulfill their educational goals.

Freshmen Merit Scholarships – Kettering University

Merit scholarships are awarded based on a combination of ACT and/or SAT scores, and G.P.A. Merit Awards are renewable and have a range of $2,000-$15,000/year with a total value range of $9,000-$67,500. Academic Tuition Scholarships – Trine University

Trine University offers a variety of scholarships to incoming freshmen, including:

-  Ten competitive, $19,500 renewable tuition scholarships (averages for past winners are: 4.0 G.P.A.; SAT of 1230 or ACT of 28), and forty $16,500 renewable Trustee Tuition scholarships (averages for past winners: 4.0 GPA, ACT of 28 or SAT of 1230)

PHP Scholarship Program

Physicians Health Plan of Northern Indiana, Inc., a local managed-care organization is providing scholarship opportunities for high school seniors planning to pursue a career in a health-related field. PHP will award a one-time scholarship of $3,000 to the first place winner; a one-time scholarship of $2,000 to the second place winner; and third place will receive a one-time scholarship of $1,000.
