1. Catch Up

· We went around the whānau. Each shared whānau highlights over last month(s) from: fishing, to secret birthdays, weddings on Tarawera, whānau NRL comp from mokos to koro & kuia, etc.

· Our updated scrap book with latest Daily Post clippings re Ohinemutu news. Thanks again to Nanny Maxine with cuttings about Don Stafford’s tangihanga.

· Wharepaea shared the Rotorua News booklets from around the 1960s. They are excellent snapshots/photos of around that era. We even found photos with us in them e.g. Aggie & Ana when they were children at Whaka Primary; Aunty Josie and Uncle Willie’s wedding – with Tumeke and Muggy as flower girls, the burning down of Whakaturia at Te Papaiouru. Did the memories go back – WOW!!!!!

2. Shaloh Mitchell’s Business @ Te Papaiouru Marae

We discussed all around the marae trust, as well as Shaloh’s view of what should happen at Te Papaiouru. The whānau finished up with the suggestion that:

· All are to check out Shaloh’s interview on www.tvnzondemand.co.nz It is probably the best chance to know see & hear Shaloh’s thinking.

· Then respond/share your view to your Te Papaiouru rep. For Ngāti Te Rorooterangi they are: Colin Bennett, Clark Pirika, and Matt Heke. Send your email/view to my daughter, Candy, and she will pass it on to our reps.

· Respond/share your view with your/our Te Kuirau marae trustee reps, just so they know what we think about: Shaloh, his plan, & Te Papaiouru Trustees. You can again pass on to Candy on , or any other of our trustees e.g. Greg Allen, Pare Richards, & Vicky Mae.

3. Te Kuirau Marae (aka Te Rorooterangi marae)

· Candy shared a summary of the marae trustee activities for April.

· It is important that whānau who don’t live in Rotorua – hear how things are going at the marae. All attended were appreciative with what has been shared. He mihi aroha ki a Waiti.

4. Uncle Bubba’s succession

Descendents of Tarahina and Te Tai at our hui: Amotawa – Aggie & Ana; Hiriwera – Wharepaea, Rukingi, Anahera, Maukaha

· All had copies of the pānui that was sent out to all descendents of Tarahina & Te Tai. As a whāngai, with no children – Uncle Bubba’s estate, including our Te Kowhai whenua and resources, are being succeeded to people who have no whakapapa to our tāonga.

· We are happy to agree with decisions determined by the descendents of Tarahina and Te Tai at the May 1 hui, Rotorua.

· Each of us who are descendents of Tarahina and Te Tai – will send personal correspondence to Nan/Aunty Maxine sharing our views.

· You can again pass your personal whakaaro to Candy on , or to any other of your whānau representing the children of Tarahina and Te Tai: Kereti, Poururu, Wharekiri, Titaha, Amotawa, Hiriwera, Tokia. Ramari – Bubba; Karaitiana & Whiiti – no issue.

We were so busy reading the awesome booklets that we forgot to agree on when and where we will meet again. Whoever wants to host us – just give me a yell.
