Sleeping Beauty cast bring panto cheer to Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children

Sleeping Beauty - this year’s Christmas pantomime at Belfast Waterfront - has been bringing panto cheer to Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children.

The cast of Sleeping Beauty met children at the hospital and performed two songs from the pantomime.

Sleeping Beauty Assistant Producer, Liam McMullan, said: “The team of nurses and the entertainment management team in the hospital do so much and we wanted to help them by bringing some unexpected joy to children who may not be able to see panto this year.”

Gary Crossan who plays panto baddie, Maleficent, commented: “seeing the faces of the kids when we began to sing was priceless. There was one baby who you could just tell is going to be a performer - she was dancing throughout the whole song and clapping.”

Nuala Davies (Fairy Stardust) added: “it really just puts your life into perspective when you realise some of those kids will be in hospital all over Christmas.”

“It’s great to be able to do something for children who can’t make it to see the panto,” said Gavin Peden, who plays the Prince.

Boyed by the excited reactions of the children, GBL Productions - the production company behind Sleeping Beauty - are already planning next year’s visit!

Sleeping Beauty runs at Belfast Waterfront until 7 January. Tickets are still available by calling 028 9033 4455, online at www.waterfront.co.uk and at the Box Office at the Ulster Hall.
