Tudor House Mini-Tour Guides
Role: Delivering short tours of Tudor House’s attics and cellars to members of the public.
Responsible to: Rebecca White (Volunteer Co-ordinator) and Andy Skinner (Learning Officer)
Location: Tudor House & Garden
Hours: To be agreed in advance with designated Tour Guide. Will require availability during opening hours of the House.
Timescale: There are no deadlines for this role. Registration will stay open until all available roles have been filled.
1. Purpose of role:
The Mini-tour guide will be working independently to deliver free (but with opportunity to make a donation) tours of Tudor House’s attic and cellars. They will be helping to increase the accessibility of the house to members of the public and will be improving the visitor experiences to the house. Tours will last about half an hour. Volunteers will be required to attend training sessions and be willing to develop their own tours as well as using existing scripts that are available.
2. Specific tasks:
· Liaise with Front of House staff to make them aware that you will be delivering tours.
· Prepare resources suitable for the tour.
· Deliver a half hour tour of the attic and cellars at Tudor House.
· Invite participants to make a voluntary financial donation.
3. General role:
· To act as a representative and ambassador for Arts and Heritage
· To promote the health and safety of visitors, staff and volunteers by following designated procedures
· To work within the Volunteer Guidelines and related organisational policies (ie. Child Protection; Grievance &
Disciplinary; Equalities; Access)
4. Relevant qualities:
· Enthusiastic attitude
· Reliable and flexible
· Good interpersonal skills
· Ability to communicate clearly in spoken English.
· Confident in public speaking and delivery.
· Experience of working with members of the public is helpful but not essential.
· An interest in history.
5. DBS Check:
The successful applicant will require a DBS check for this role.
