Abstract

Abstract of the paper should be written here in approximately 100 words. This document is intended to be the template (Form D) of full papers to be submitted to the Third TRIZ Symposium in Japan, 2007, as an optional part of the required final manuscripts. The style specifications in this template (Form D) are essentially the same as those in the template for the extended Abstract (Form B), except in the maximum length and fullness of the descriptions. Styles of various types of headings and texts are installed in this document in the form of style specifications, with the names headed by 'eTRIZSymp-'. It should be easy for you to specify the format of your paper in accordance to the Symposium requests by using this template.

1. Introduction

General instructions for your preparing the final manuscripts for the Third TRIZ Symposium in Japan, 2007 are described in our Call for Papers [1], publicized on Feb. 20, 2007, in the Official Web site of Japan TRIZ CB [2].

You should remember the following outline:

  • The set of requested documents to be submitted as the final manuscripts for the Symposium depends on the cases of Oral (invited/contributed) presentations and Poster (contributed) presentations. See details in [1].
  • The (extended) Abstract (Form B) and the Slides for presentation (and for publishing) (Form C) are always requested.
  • Submission of a Full Paper is optional, but very welcome. The submitted full paper will be published in the Proceeding always for invited talks, but as the alternative to the presentation slides for contributed papers (either Oral or Poster), for the sake of limitation in the pages of the Proceedings.
  • The format of Full Papers are the same for Invited talks, Oral (contributed) presentations, and Poster (contributed) presentations. You may use this template (Form D).
  • The maximum number of printed pages is 16, including figures and tables.
  • This format is size B5. In the Proceedings, two B5 pages arranged side by side will be printed in an A4 page, with 86 % reduction in size. Thus please keep the font sizes as specified in the format.
  • Figures and tables should also be large enough to be clear under the 86% reduction.

2. Style Specifications in the Template

2.1 Page Size and Margins

Use the following specifications which are already installed in the template:

  • Page size: B5 (182 mm x 257 mm)
  • Margins: top: 25 mm, bottom: 20 mm, outer side: 20 mm, inner side: 16 mm
  • Multiple page layout: Two pages open side by side. (Page 1 & 2 together, etc.)
  • Column layout: Single column, always.

2.2 Title and Abstract Part

The top half of the first page must be the same as the Abstract (Form B) to be submitted separately at the same time as the parts of final manuscripts. They include the following items:

  • Title
  • Author(s) (Affiliation(s))
  • Abstract heading
  • Abstract text: Approximately 100 words.

For these items, use the following style specifications:

  • eTRIZSymp-Title : Arial, 14 pt, bold, center,
  • eTRIZSymp-Author: Arial, 12 pt, bold, center
  • eTRIZSymp-AstractHeading: Arial, 11 pt, bold, left, left indented
  • eTRIZSymp-Abstract: Times New Roman, 11 pt, justified, left indented

2.3 Sections and Headings

For specifying the sections, use the number system like:

1. Section in the style of heading1

1.1 Subsection in the style of heading 2

1.1.1 Sub-subsection or use (a)(b)(c) or (1)(2)(3) etc. in heading 3.

For these headings, the following style specifications should be used:

  • eTRIZSymp-Heading1: Arial, 12 pt, bold, left
  • eTRIZSymp-heading2: Arial, 11 pt, bold, left
  • eTRIZSymp-heading3: Arial, 11 pt, light, left

Spacing is recommended just before and after the headings in the following way:

  • For heading1: 1 blank line before, and 1 blank line after the heading.
  • For heading2: 1 blank line before the heading, no blank after.
  • For heading3: no blank lines before and after the heading.

2.4 Texts and Itemized texts

Ordinary texts and itemized texts should be written using the following style specifications.

  • eTRIZSymp-text: Times New Roman, 11pt, justified, indented top line
  • eTRIZSymp-item1: Times New Roman, 11pt, left, itemization

Indentation of blocks of text may be done as necessary.

Spacing between the paragraphs may or may not be used.

2.5 Figures and Tables

(1) Figures and Figure captions

Figures should be inserted in the text. The characters in the figures should be in the fonts of Arial, with the size no smaller than 10. Figure captions should be added below the figure, with the style specification as:

  • eTRIZSymp-FigCaption: Times New Roman, 11pt, bold, center, (below the figure)

Since the paper is going to be printed in monochrome, colors, if any, in the figures need to be adjusted so as to be sure that the characters in the figures are readable in the printed Proceedings.

By way of example, Figure 1 shows the symbol marks of our Symposia for these three years.

(2) Tables and Table Titles

Tables should be inserted in the text, as well. Table titles should be placed above the table, by using the style specification as:

  • eTRIZSymp-TableTitle: Times New Roman, 11 pt, bold, center, (above the table)

By way of example, Table 1 summarizes our TRIZ Symposia.

2.6 Acronyms

For the first occurrence (other than for commonly used acronyms such as CAE, AI, TRIZ, etc.), spell out each word followed by the acronym in parentheses, e.g., Smart Little People's Modelling (SLP Modelling) and Project Based Learning (PBL).

2.7 Equations

Type all equations. Equations should be numbered in parentheses. Type equation numbers in Arabic numerals in parentheses, centered. Example:

In equations SI units must be used.

2.8 References

List references at the end of the paper with the numbering in [ ] in the order appeared in the text. Include the following information (as applicable).

  • For a book: author(s): book title (in double quotes), page or chapter numbers, publisher, city, (year).
  • For a journal paper: author(s): paper title (in quotes), journal name, volume and issue numbers, page numbers (inclusive), (year).
  • For a proceedings paper or chapter in an edited book: author(s): paper or chapter title (in quotes), volume title (in double quotes), editor(s), volume number (if applicable), publisher, city, page numbers (inclusive), (year).
  • For a Web article: author(s): article title (in quotes), Web site name, URL, (year).

Use the style specification as:

  • eTRIZSymp-ref: Times New Roman, 10 pt, left

3. Manuscript Content

3.1 Arrangement of contents

The content of the paper should be arrange in the following order, where items in ( ) are optional:

  • Title of the paper
  • Author name(s) and affiliation(s)
  • Abstract
  • Introduction
  • Exposition chapters
  • Conclusion
  • (Acknowledgments)
  • References
  • (Appendices)

Author's profile should not be included in the full paper manuscript (but in the extended Abstract).

4. Submission Procedure

4.1 Outline of Submission Procedure

Outline of the submission procedure is as follows. See more detail in the Call for Papers.

  • Prepare your full paper manuscript by using this template (Form D), including all the figures, tables, etc.
  • Extended Abstract (Form B), Slides for presentation (Form C), (and Slides for Poster introduction (Form C2) in case of Poster presentation) as well, following the directions in the Call for Papers.
  • Send an email message for submission by using the Form A, and attaching the whole set of files of manuscript documents as described above.

4.2 Special Request for Your Collaboration

As written in the Call for Papers, we are going to translate your presentation slides into Japanese and to project them during your oral presentation and to print them in the Proceedings. Thus we should appreciate it very much if you would submityour final manuscripts as early as possible.

Maximum number of pages of the full paper manuscript is 16. Please keep this limit.

5. Conclusion

By using this template, it should be easy for you to specify the format of your paper in accordance to the Symposium requests.
