RE: Senior Service Award

Theta Phi Alpha’s Senior Service Award is the highest award granted to a collegiate member. This national award is presented in recognition of a collegiate member in her senior year whose scholarship, leadership, character, and service to Fraternity and school has been outstanding during all of her years as a collegian.

All seniors in your chapter or colony who are graduating with an undergraduate degree during the 2015-2016 academic school year are eligible to be considered for this prestigious award. Please encourage each senior in your chapter or colony to apply. Seniors who elect early alumna status are ineligible to apply. All applications must be completed and submitted online.

The application is broken down into two sections and both must be completed.

and

https://thetaphialpha.celect.org/site/forms/11452.

The seniors will need to go to each link and complete both sections for the online application by November 15. Additionally, enclosed in this packet is a Senior Service Award flyer which you can post or make copies of and distribute.

The Senior Service Applications will be forwarded to the Chapter Advisor or Colony Advisor by the National Office so that she may complete a letter of recommendation and forward it to the National Office by November 30. The Chapter Advisor or Colony Advisor will need to go to http://goo.gl/forms/gMXLWa8Irw to complete the letter of recommendation. Please let your advisor know that your application was submitted.

Please be reminded that only the alumnae members of the Advisory Board are required to review all applications and forward no more than two candidates to the National Office. The review process and the names of the candidates forwarded to the National Office are to remain confidential.

If a chapter does not have an active Chapter Advisory Board, applications will be submitted to the Conference Director/Administrator so that she may complete the letter of recommendation and forward it to the National Office by November 30.

If a colony does not have a Colony Advisor, applications will be submitted to the Director of Colonies so that she may complete the letter of recommendation and forward it to the National Office by November 30.

The following items must be received by November 15 to ensure consideration for the award:

·  Online applications (two links) completed by the candidate

·  Brief statement from the applicant highlighting her credentials for this award.

·  A picture of the candidate

Please ensure that all required letters of recommendation are submitted by November 30:

·  Letter of recommendation from the Chapter Advisor/Colony Advisor/Conference Administrator/Conference Director/Director of Colonies as applicable

·  Letter of recommendation from the college/university official/advisor. Have the college/university official/advisor follow this link:

Remember, the members of the Board of Trustees do not know every sister who is nominated for this award, and while many do not enjoy writing about themselves, the requested summary of activities, honors, accomplishments in office, and/or important moments as a sister of Theta Phi Alpha is very important to the selection process. This summary should build on or supplement information already provided in the application, not repeat it.

For Chapter Advisors and Colony Advisors, please complete the Intent to Nominate form online at http://goo.gl/forms/qHJic8o1xj. This form is due October 15. This is the fourth year we are using an online form.

Theta Phi Alpha is proud of the 2015 recipients of the Senior Service Award on the attached list and we look forward to having a nominee from your chapter this year.

In the event a link shown above doesn’t open, try the main Senior Service link at http://thetaphialpha.celect.org/senior-service-award-information.
