The Murray River between Deep Creek Marina and Torrumbarry Weir on Saturday 22nd November, will come alive with the sounds of water ski race boats and their skiers as they compete in the 3rd Annual Barrie Beehag Ski Race.

On water activities start at approximately at 10am as the team of Hellbent, leave the Deep Creek Marina and head towards Torrumbarry. The experienced team in the boat include driver Mark Cranny and observer Damien Matthews have won this event for the past two years. They are towing new comers to this event in Peter Proctor and Paul Robertson. The team will be on a high after their win the Bridge to Bridge Water Ski Classic this weekend, and will be looking for two wins in two weeks.

Next on the water is Fastcash towing Chris Taylor and Michael Gunther, they will be applying the pressure to Team Hell. Third away will be Sportspage from the 8 Litre class, towing Troy Barens and Travis Oliver. Can they overtake Team Hell? Sportspage is a accomplished team, who are consistently in the top five in the Club Marine Southern 80. The results will be on the board on Saturday afternoon will see if this consistency prevails.

Last away will be Spinal Tap – these two 11 years olds, Tayla Hinterholzl and Tayla Stent, are skiing in the Under 16 class. The girls are out to break their time of last year – 1 hour, 35 minutes and 15 seconds.

There are 8 classes competing in the Barrie Beehag Ski Race. Unlimited has 22 entries and Hellbent would be the favourite to win this class.

8 Litre Inboard, and 6 entries, with Sportspage the favourite, but the lawbreakers in the boats Gangster and Outlaw would be pushing Sportspage to the line.

MOC Expert and ACE Racing after its record breaking win the Bridge to Bridge would be looking for another first place. With another 13 boats in this class, anyone could be a winner including BL Marine, Smoken Mirrors and Thundernuts.

6 Litre Expert and 13 entries. Can Kamikaze from Shepparton towing Rod & Colin Senior take the winners medal from Synthetic and Toey As?

SMOC Expert –This will be a close race between the two Evinrude named boats, Stalker-Evinrude and Evinrude Racing. Maybe local knowledge will help Brad Groves has he drives Stalker – Evinrude down the river towing John Cartledge and Adam Morgan. In this class, the engines are all of a standard configuration, any of the 11 competitors in this class could take home the gold medal.

2.5 Litre Outboard, another close class with 8 entries. Saintn and Kane It, followed by Club Marine Racing are the first three away in this class.

Juniors and The Sting, Cinders and Revenge all leave in that order – how they finish will be up the skiers as they travel the Mighty Murray River.
