DID YOU KNOW THIS ABOUT METRO SCHOOL?

This has been a very exciting week. Our NCExtend 1 assessment has ended; our Athletic Banquet was on Wednesday; our Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon was on Thursday; and our prom was today, sponsored and hosted by the Matthews United Methodist Church.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT…….Staff Social Committee

This week we have had a very bright staff spotlight shining on several people. Ms. Gail Hester was named as our Employee of the Week; we thank you Gail for all you do for the students with whom you work. We also are appreciative of our Staff Social Committee members for the wonderful staff salad bar lunch on Wednesday. We thank the members of our Fish! Committee for organizing our school-wide Bingo game on Thursday. We appreciate all that our PE staff and Special Olympics coaches did to make the Athletic Banquet so great for our student athletes. We thank our technology facilitator, Ms. Hillary Knorr, for the great slide show presentations at the luncheons. We thank our volunteer coordinators, Ms. Lori Polite and Ms. Janie Young, for organizing our Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon. We thank the high school and transition staff for making the prom so terrific for our students. We thank the PTO for their support of our school’s special events. We also thank the people who donated food for our Athletic Banquet and for our Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon. So many people to thank for so many great special activities!

STUDENT SERVICES CORNER……LaShica Hemingway, Counselor

School will soon be ending, and the students know this change is coming. The more we keep their school and home routines stable, the better the students will make this transition. We have seen that as End of Year events take place at school and expected school routines change, students’ behaviors may change. Keep home routines in place as much as possible through the end of the school year so that your children experience stability and structure through this transition time.
