THE FARMERS BOYS (DERR & RGBW) GOLF SOCIETY MEETING 12/13 JUNE 2008

GENERAL

1.The 2008 meeting of The Farmers Boys (DERR & RGBW) Golf Society will take place at Erlestoke Sands Golf Club over the period 12/13 June 2008. This is the first meeting since the name change and a letter summarising the outcome of the debate that took place during the course of last year is enclosed for your information.

FORMAT

2.The format will be similar to recent years with a full days play on Thurs 12 Jun and ½ a day on Fri 13 Jun. Details of the competitions are:

a.Thurs 12 Jun.

AM. 18 Hole Texas Scramble in teams of 3. There will be an additional competition, played simultaneously, with teams aiming to play with a single coloured ball throughout the round.

PM. Fensome Pairs.

b.AM Fri 13 Jun.

Medal Gross.

Medal Nett.

Stableford Singles (Low handicap).

Stableford Singles (High handicap).

TROPHIES/PRIZES

3.Regimental trophies will be awarded as follows:

a.Medal Gross.

1st - Gilson Trophy.

2nd - Bone Beaker.

b.Medal Nett.

1st - Gilson Bowl.

2nd - Gamble Cup.

c.Stableford Singles (Low handicap).

1st - James Cup.

2nd - Shorncliffe Cup.

d.Stableford Singles (High handicap). 1st - Education Cup.

e.Fensome Pairs. 1st - The Wiltshire Regimental Golfing Society Regimental Foursomes Cup.

4.In addition prizes will be awarded for the winners of the Texas Scramble, 2nd place in the Fensome Pairs, 3rd place in the Medal Nett, Medal Gross and Stableford singles (both high and low handicap categories) as well as the “Longest Drive”, “Nearest the Pin”, “Nearest the Pin – 2nd Shot”, “Nearest the Line”, and “Most Golf Played.” Prizes will be organised by Andy Fontana, who has kindly agreed to be the Prizes Secretary for the meeting.

5.Prize giving will take place after lunch on Fri 13 Jun at approx 1530 hrs.

6.Holders of trophies from the 2007 meeting are requested to ensure that they are suitably engraved and returned to the Salisbury Regimental Office or brought to the meeting on 12 Jun.

COSTS

7.The total cost for both days, including £5.00 for prizes, is £80. This is cheaper than last year’s meeting and includes coffee on arrival on both days, a sandwiches and soup lunch and sausage, egg and chips high tea on 12 Jun, a 3 course lunch on 13 Jun and 3 rounds of golf. For those unable to attend both days the breakdown is:

a.12 Jun.

Golf - £28.00.

Coffee - £1.30.

Lunch - £6.50.

High Tea - £6.50.

Prizes - £5.00

Total - £47.30.

b.13 Jun.

Golf - £21.00.

Coffee - £1.30.

3 Course Lunch - £14.95.

Prizes - £5.00.

Total - £42.25.

9.Entry forms are attached. These should be completed and returned to the Salisbury Regimental Office by 16 May 08

10.If possible please include a cheque for the full amount with your return. If this isn’t possible, then a deposit of £25.00 is required with the full amount payable on 12 Jun 08. Cheques should be payable to RGBW Regimental Charities.

NEW PLAYERS

14.Numbers were a little down last year so but please continue to encourage those golfers who have not turned out before to come along and join us. Entry forms will be held at the Salisbury Regimental Office.

15.The 2009 meeting will take place at Erlestoke Sands Golf Course on 11/12 June 2009.
