Threatened Species Targeted: List the threatened species that will be directly targeted by your project's activities in the following format: Common name (Latin name) (Global Red List status). Please also indicate if the species is listed in any international conventions (such as, but not restricted to, CITES or CMS).

Explain whether the project is entirely new or a development of existing and ongoing work. If the latter, please explain how SOS funding would complement existing activities and the expected effect this would have.

Describe any ongoing conservation efforts you are aware of that are being carried out in the same area and/or targeting the same species. Elaborate on any overlap, similarities and differences with your project.

Please present the project rationale within the following sub-headings:

(i) Summary of conservation status and estimated trajectory of target species in terms of Red List Categories and Criteria:

Please be concise and limit to essential information (max. 5-10 lines).

(ii) Conservation problem:

Explain what the conservation problem is and how it originated. Why is it an emergency? Why is it important that it be addressed immediately?

(iii) Proposed activities and justification for their effectiveness in benefitting the species:

Describe in detail the proposed activities to be implemented in the project period and also indicate if your project plans to implement any activity identified in an existing Species Conservation Strategy or Action Plan.

(iv) Outcomes:

Explain what you expect to be the end results of the proposed activities above.

(v) Assumptions:

Describe the underlying assumptions of the project proposal and explain how will the activities lead to the expected outcomes.

(vi) Indicators:

Explain how you plan to measure the impact of project activities on the target species.

(vii) Social context:

Describe the broad socio-economic context of, and local communities living in, the area of the proposed project. Describe how the project will work in this context and with the local communities, if relevant.

(viii) Risk assessment and approach for dealing with uncertainty:

Describe any important external factors that may affect your project during implementation and how you will mitigate these potential risks.

(ix) Conservation partners, collaborations, stakeholders and consultations directly involved in implementing and planning this project:

Describe any stakeholders important to your project and how you have involved them in your planning.

(x) Long term sustainability of project outcomes:

Describe how the expected positive outcomes generated by this Rapid Action Grant project will be sustained in the future.
