3 A Level Chemistry = A FOR EFFORT

1 PUNCTUAL Be punctual, arrive on time, ideally early, that means be there at 9, not 9.02, etc. There is no excuse for lateness to P1, P3 and P4.

2 ATTENDANCE Attendance should be near 100% and only in exceptional circumstances should lessons be missed. When a lesson is missed you should catch up with work BEFORE your next lesson.

3 FAST START Come ready to learn. Read previous notes before the lesson. Open books ready to start, don’t wait to be asked.

4 INDEPENDENT LEARNING. Take the initiative with your subject. Read beyond your textbook, this can include reading chemical publications article or surfing the net for a topic.

5 HOMEWORK Aim high with homework. It should generally be completed to at least your TMG, ideally aim above. Test scores should at least meet your TMG. Complete homework early so that if you have problems you can ask your teacher for help before the deadline.

6 ENGAGED THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE LESSON Be fully engaged throughout the lesson and lead with debates, questions, group work etc. Show a genuine interest in your work. Using your mobile phone for anything other than your work suggests you are not interested enough to do this subject. Don’t pack up before the teacher has told you the lesson is over, it only embarrasses you getting all your work back out.

7 ORGANISATION Folders should be in order with no loose papers. You should be ready for a folder check at any time. Ensure you keep essential information such as data sheets with your folder at all time.
