Southington Police Department

February 10, 2009

7:00 PM

CALL TO ORDER

President Ed Beaupre (EB) called the meeting to order at 7:00PM and welcomed all Board members and guest.

SECRETARY’S REPORT

Secretary Jim Sarantides (JS) conducted a silent role call. There were twenty (18) members present including eight (8) E-Board members and four (4) guests. The January 2009 minutes were approved and accepted.

TREASURER’S REPORT

Michelle White provided an update balance. The current balance does not include the payment for new bases.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Mother’s Day Weekend Charity Event

Liz Francis was introduced as the committee chairperson. The mother daughter game will be played on the Friday night prior to Mother’s Day. All games on Saturday will recognize the event. The committee is still reviewing several ideas (i.e. Bake Sale). Donna Marotto is investigating obtaining pink softball for game play.

Winter Clinic

JS reviewed the winter clinic details with the board. The clinic is being held at USA Elite Training from January 17th – March 21st. Forty-Two (42) girls are participating.

Pavilion

No progress has been made due to inclement weather.

Sponsorships

Bob Arduini has been soliciting past and potential league sponsors. Economic condition has resulted in many businesses to reduce league sponsorships. Sponsor name will be provided to Billings by the end of February for uniform completion.

OLD BUSINESS

Registration

Linda Park reported that 504 players signed-up during league registration dates. Late registration information has been posted on the SGSL website.

NEW ITEMS

25th League Anniversary

2009 will mark the 25th anniversary. League will consider ideas for special events to commemorate the season.

High School Draft

The league will conduct High School draft after the high school has made it team selections.

Summer Clinic

Board approved field usage by Elite USA for summer softball clinic from Aug 17 – 20. SGSL players will receive a registration discount.

EXECUTIVE BOARD ELECTIONS

Paul Gendreau was elected to the second co-field maintenance position by the board.

ADJOUN MEETING

Motion to adjourn was at 8:00 PM. The next meeting is scheduled for March 10th at 7:00 pm at the Southington Police Department.
