Middle / Senior School Teaching Staff (Years 7-12)

SC1Evidence of active involvement in a Christian denomination and/or ability to support the Christian ethos of the College, including its worship and devotional program.

SC2Demonstrated personal and interpersonal skills that foster effective learning partnerships with parents and other staff.

SC3Demonstrated ability to develop warm, caring relationships with students while maintaining a positive, focussed learning environment. An understanding of the particular needs of young people and demonstrated skills in meeting these needs in the context of the classroom and in pastoral care groups.

SC4Demonstrated use of a range of effective learning strategies to ensure the needs of all students in the classroom are met. Evidence of a personal commitment to continuous self-evaluation and lifelong learning.

SC5Demonstrated skills in and understanding of the development and implementation of work programmes and units of work to ensure high standards of learning occur. Familiarity with current QCAA syllabuses and Vocational Education elements (if relevant). The ability to integrate the use of information technology into learning will be an advantage.

SC6Demonstrated skills needed to support the College’s co-curricular programme.

SC7Demonstrated levels of confidence, flexibility, initiative, perseverance and resourcefulness necessary to contribute to a learning community which values teamwork and teacher leadership.

SC8Demonstrated skills and appropriate qualifications to fulfil the roles outlined in the Specific Requirements for the position.

2MISSION FOCUS

The Teacherwill promote the mission of the College by:

  1. Being committed to promoting and celebrating the Gospel of Jesus Christ, especially through the ministry and mission of St Andrews Lutheran College;
  2. Working closely with, and being guided by the Chaplain in spiritual matters;
  3. Focusing on nurturing the individual gifts of students and staff in the community and promoting harmonious, synergistic relationships;
  4. Promoting educational excellence in all aspects of school life (curricular and co-curricular);
  5. Personally modeling the attributes of a lifelong learner (inner learning, complex thinking, community participation, collaborative learning and quality production);
  6. Maintaining harmonious relationships and resolving conflict through following the College’s Round Table Policy/Restorative Practices.
  7. Foster the development of a learning community through collaborative and servant leadership.
  8. Assist the Principal in setting the tone of the College: one which is orderly, industrious, respectful and harmonious.
  9. Exercise effective management and administration to facilitate the educational process.
  10. Investigate areas of concern, problem-solve and in collaboration with the Principal initiate policies and action to enhance the educational and spiritual mission of the College.

3OTHER REQUIREMENTS

All members of staff at St Andrews are expected to:

  • Convey to the public a positive image of the College.
  • Abide by the code of conduct explained in the College’s Child Protection and Sexual Abuse policies.
  • Maintain an understanding of, and take responsibility for, the oversight of the Workplace Health and Safety Standards of the College, in consultation with the College’s Workplace Health and Safety Officer.
  • Participate in staff training and development activities to assist in the achievement of individual/work goals.
  • Abide by the College Privacy Policy.
  • Abide by the non-smoking policy of the College.
