Title: Intramurals

POLICY: Every NVMI cadet is expected to play in an intramural game at least once a week during their entire tenure at NVMI. NVMI will offer a wide variety of intramural sports and activities, including, but not limited to:

·  Archery

·  Badminton

·  Basketball

·  Dodgeball

·  Field hockey

·  Flag football

·  Flag rugby

·  Marksmanship

·  Orienteering

·  Soccer

·  Softball

·  Team handball

·  Ultimate Frisbee

·  Volleyball

Each company will have an intramurals NCO who tracks signs up and participation for their company and reports scores to the Battalion Assistant S-3 for Intramurals each week on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the end of lunch.

PROCEDURE:

A.  Intramurals will take place in five week cycles as follows:

WEEK / PLAYING AREA ONE / PLAYING AREA TWO
1 / A vs B / C vs D
2 / A vs C / B vs D
3 / A vs D / B vs C
4 / Team with most total points at end of week 3 vs Team with least at end of week 3 / Team with 2nd most total points at end of week 3 vs. Team with 3rd most
5 / Team with most total points at end of week 4 vs Team in 3rd place at end of week 4 / Team in 2nd place at end of week 4 vs team in 4th place at end of week 4

B.  Each team take the number of points they scored in the games to the next round in weeks 1-3, then weeks 4 and 5 are scored separately. Points from both MS and HS are combined together.

C.  A TAC NCO will be assigned as the NCOIC of Intramurals. For the 2014-2015 school year, that is SSG Kirby.

D.  Each cycle, honor unit points will be awarded as follows:

  1. 100 honor unit points to the 1st place team at the end of a five week cycle
  2. 50 honor unit points to 2nd place team
  3. 25 honor unit points to 3rd place team

E.  For the 2014-2015 school year, the seven five week cycles will be as follows:

CYCLE 1 – Basketball

CYCLE 2 – Volleyball

CYCLE 3 – Soccer

CYCLE 4 – Dodgeball

CYCLE 5 – Badminton

CYCLE 6 – Frisbee

CYCLE 7 – Flag Rugby

F. For the 2015-2016 school year, the seven five week cycles will be as follows:

CYCLE 1 – Handball

CYCLE 2 – Flag Football

CYCLE 3 – Softball

CYCLE 4 – Archery

CYCLE 5 – Orienteering

CYCLE 6 – Paddleball

CYCLE 7 – Field Hockey
