As the primary teaching pastor, Pastor Perry has a passion for carefully unpacking the truths of Scripture. He has a heart to learn, live, and to love. He is a devoted husband, loving father, and a caring pastor. He and his family are jewels in the eyes of God and the Goodship Church Family. God has truly blessed him in ministry and blessed us through him!

Pastor Derwin V. Perry was born to the late Mr. Oscar Lee Perry and Mrs. Willie Mae Perry on July 16, 1970, in Montgomery, Alabama. He is husband of Mrs. LaKesha Perry and father to Santiago, Hannah, and Kelontae. He accepted his call to ministry in the year 1994, and delivered his initial sermon in March of 1994. Pastor Perry was ordained in October 1994, under the leadership of the late Reverend Leroy Jenkins of Northstar Missionary Baptist Church, Montgomery, Alabama. During his 21 years in ministry, He Pastored Pleasant Grove and Agape in Montgomery, Alabama, Hopewell Baptist Church, Clanton, Alabama, and Greater Grace in Birmingham, Alabama.

He is a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, Montgomery, Alabama, and continued his education at Alabama A&M University, majoring in accounting. In addition, Reverend Perry obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Pastoral Ministry and Bible Theology from Birmingham Bible College. He further advanced his education by earning a Master of Arts degree in Biblical Studies (M.A.B.S.) from Birmingham Theological Seminary in Birmingham, Alabama. Pastor Perry recently obtained a Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) degree from Andersonville Theological Seminary in Camella, GA, in May 2015. He is currently pursuing a second Master of Arts (M.A.) degree, majoring in religion, from Selma University and will graduate in May 2016.

Pastor Perry believes in the word of God for the people of God to the glory of God. “Sola Deo Gloria.”
