Hourly Rate: $20.91 per hour + 4% Vacation
Scheduled Hours: 7 hours per month (last Wednesday, 6 - 10 pm)
Contract: September 2013 to April 2014 (8 months)
East Mississauga Community Health Centre (EMCHC) is a branch of LAMP CHC, and is the first CHC in Peel Region (Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon). EMCHC provides interdisciplinary health and social services to specific neighbourhoods within its diverse client-service area. LGBTTIQQ2S* communities are among EMCHC’s priority populations, with dedicated programs and services.
EMCHC hosts the PFLAG Chapter in Peel Region, which is a branch of PFLAG Canada, a national voice that provides support, education and resources to individuals with questions or concerns about sexual orientation and gender identity.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a Group Facilitator to run the monthly PFLAG Support Group. The Group Facilitator works in the evening from 6 – 10 pm on the last Wednesday of the month, with 3 additional hours/month for outreach, preparation and administrative duties.
The PFLAG Group Facilitatorreports to the Director, Healthy Communities and will ensure that all organizational policies are followed.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Facilitate monthly PFLAG Support Group for parents, families and their LGBTTIQQ2S loved ones
- Prepare sessions
- Perform basic online outreach
- Perform administrative duties as required
Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications Required:
- Relevant post-secondary education or equivalent work and community experience
- Family member or self-identifying member of LGBTTIQQ2S communities
- Some experience facilitating groups for marginalized populations
- Expertise working with LGBTTIQQ2S communities and individuals, and issues facing these communities
- Demonstrated client focus, empathy and communication skills
- Demonstrated Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppression analysis and practice
- Familiarity with Peel region
- Ability to work independently, and within a team
