Red Nose Day 13 March

DSC 0269DSC 0291DSC 0267Our Red Nose Day this year was based around the theme of ‘Silly Faces’. Our day started with staff and pupils wearing red clothes and some wearing silly faces. We all spent the morning getting ready for our special assembly. We had cakes to decorate with funny faces and photos of ourselves to disguise with different eyebrows, hair etc. Our assembly was great fun. Parents attended and all the staff and children assembled to be part of “The Great Sunshine House Bake Off”. Special silly faced cakes were created by classes and parents. The cakes were amazing and were auctioned off at the end of the assembly. The children paraded their funny faces and their class cake to everyone. Then our judges had the difficult job of choosing the winner. Our judges, Linzie, Claire, Carole and Michaela found it very difficult to choose. After tastes of all the cakes the winner was Maple class! We are delighted to announce that we made £223.19 for Comic Relief.

Book Day 16 March

On Monday 16 March, Sunshine House celebrated ‘World Book Day’ with a visit from Nina, a multisensory storyteller from the charity ‘Bag Books’. Each class visited Nina and enjoyed three interactive sensory stories. ‘Bag Books’ have kindly sent us two new stories for our school library. The staff joined in by dressing up as a variety of literary characters with Brandon from Willow class dressed as the White Rabbit.

Easter Assembly 25 March

More fun was had this year at our Easter Assembly. There were lots of new and different songs and an amazing song performed by pupils from Holy Trinity School. Parents enjoyed our assembly too. Refreshments were enjoyed after with delicious cakes provided by Brandon’s mum.

Garden Day

Saturday 16 May

It’s that time of year again and we are looking forward to spending time in our sensory garden and playground.

Can you help us to tidy, dig, weed, paint and clean our garden ready for the summer?

Last year it was a beautiful day and lots of you came to help, thank you!

We all enjoyed a lovely cream tea at the end of the day.

This year we would like to do the same and make our garden really shine!

Mark the date in your diary and we will send you more information after the Easter holidays.

A new addition to the Eden Academy family

The Eden Academy was delighted to open its fifth school last month.

Pentland Field School is a new addition to the Academy’s family of schools and caters for pupils with moderate to severe learning difficulties.

Our first 33 pupils have settled in well and are already enjoying learning in their new school and making new friends.

Ultimately we will have places for 140 students from ages 4 to 19 and we look forward to keeping you up to date with developments.

“I can’t believe we've just finished our first term —I am so glad to see all of our pupils so settled, so quickly!” Audrey Pantelis, Head of School

Pentland Field School was officially opened on Friday 6th February by Chris Wormald, Permanent Secretary of State for Education.
