Post Baccalaureate Certificate and Graduate Certificate Contract

This document constitutes a formal contract between McNeese State University, hereafter, referred to as University, and the individual student (______) participating in the Post Baccalaureate Certificate or Graduate Certificate program in Pump Reliability Engineering, hereafter referred to as student. The contract is legally binding and specifies the respective expectations and responsibilities of the University and the student.

Terms of Contract

The contract begins on ______and shall end at the completion of the program which is on or about ______. Having satisfactorily completed all requirements of the contract, the student shall be awarded a Post Baccalaureate Certificate or Graduate Certificate in Pump Reliability Engineering by the University. The contract rate at commencement of the program is valid as long as the student remains continuously enrolled or other arrangements are documented and approved by the program director. Students who withdraw and reenter the program after six months, will pay the contract price in affect at the time of re-enrollment.

Respective Responsibilities

Once admitted to the Post Baccalaureate Certificate or Graduate Certificate program, the student agrees to the following:

Pay the contract price associated with each course on or before the University set deadline.
Keep up with the weekly assignments as they are presented on the course web site.
Submit all assignments and/or other course requirements to the instructor in an electronic format over the internet.
Be an active participant in each web-based session.

The University agrees to the following:

Provide the student with the required on-line course materials and assessments; (Note: supplemental materials other than those available on-line will not be supplied by the University).
Provide the student with courses that are facilitated by qualified faculty members.
Deliver programs that are aimed at experienced professionals that facilitate learning and areconvenient to the student’s work schedule.

Contract Payment

The all-inclusive price for the Post Baccalaureate Certificate program is $2,400* per three credit hour course or $12,000* for entire five-course program. The all-inclusive price for the Graduate Certificate program is $3,600* per three credit hour course or $18,000* for entire five-course program. The student shall submit payment forthe program to theUniversityin accordance with the contract payment schedule(s) unless another arrangement hasbeen agreed upon in writing prior to the scheduled payment date(s).

* The contract price will be reviewed annually and adjusted as deemedappropriate.

Delivery Method

The Post Baccalaureate Certificate and Graduate Certificate programs will be delivered over the web in an asynchronous mode and as independent study programs. Each 3 credit hour course is subdivided into 3, one credit hour sections. Each section is independent i.e., it is four weeks long, it is independently evaluated and it is a prerequisite for the next in sequence course with the same three digit number but different decimal. For example; MEEN 470.1 is a prerequisite for MEEN 470.2 and MEEN 470.2 is a prerequisite for MEEN 470.3.

After all courses are developed, the student will have 10 opportunities to start a section of a course during an academic year. Once he/she registers and starts the section, he/she must complete it with a passing grade before he/she can enroll in the next section. Once a section is successfully completed, the student will be awarded 1 credit hour. After successfully completing all three sections of a course, the student is considered as having fulfilled all course requirements and earns a total of 3 credit hours.

For each course section, material issubdivided into 4 equal parts corresponding to one week each. For example, a typical 3 credit hour course is subdivided into 12 parts, or 4 weekly parts for each one of its 3 sections. Only one new part will be visible to the student at a time. Each parthas its own performance evaluation component. When thestudent completes and successfully passes a part, the next part will become visible on the web until the student successfully completes all parts in a section. A comprehensive evaluation component will be administered at the end of each section. Once a section is successfully completed, the student will be awarded 1 credit hour.

Prerequisite requirements are satisfied only after the student successfully completes all three sections of a course. For example, the student must successfully complete MEEN 470.1, MEEN 470.2, and MEEN 470.3 in order to satisfy the MEEN 470 prerequisite.

Termination

The student may withdraw from the Post Baccalaureate Certificate and Graduate Certificate programs at any time by submitting written notificationto the program director. A student who withdraws from a specific coursewill be eligible for an80% refund if the student withdraws in writing no later than the first week of the course. Upon withdrawal from the program, credit for completed course(s) will be given. To receive credit for any specifiedcourse, the student must have satisfied all course requirements with a passing grade. The University mayterminate the student from the program for poor performance (failing grade: F).A grade of C or better on all credits attempted is required. In cases where a student earns a D in a course, he/she will be allowed to continue their studies; however the course(s) in which a D is earned must repeated and a grade of C or better must be achieved. Students may continue in the program with course grades of D. An average grade of B is required for graduation. The contract price in effect at the time will apply to repeated courses. Any student terminated from the program by the University may not re-enroll in a subsequent course offering without specific approval of the program director

In addition to policies specific to the Post Baccalaureate Certificate and Graduate Certificate programs, each student is subject to applicableUniversity and College of Engineering and Engineering Technology policies and procedures outlined in the University Catalog.
