Minutes of 36th AGM of Strathendrick Rugby Football Club

held at Fintry Sports Club on 1st May 2010

1. Apologies:- Received from M. Gibson, P. Eaton, J. Cuthbertson, J. Porteous, P. Bastock,

B. Holmes (Snr), D. Bowman, S. Simmers.

2. Minutes of the 35th AGM:- These were adopted without alteration. The adoption of the minutes was proposed by D Spence and seconded by G. Hunter.

3. President’s Remarks:- The President commented on the extraordinary season due to the weather. This is an opportunity to reflect, recognise and reflect at this meeting. Last year’s objectives were 1st XV promotion, 2nd XV complete fixtures, collaboration and to have fun. We came close to achieving these. This season the 1st XV were talented with only 3 losses and thanks for this is due to S. O’Brien, S. Bastock, D. Porteous, S. Cuthbertson, N. MacQuarrie, A. Coldwell and Rory Kerr. The 2nd XV did not complete all away games but some good wins and a good team spirit, thanks to B. Holmes, G. Yuill, A. Summers, S. Campbell and B. Holmes (Snr). The Midis struggled for numbers but working with D. MacDonald has been a major plus. Thanks to Susie Wilson and all the coaches plus the staff at Balfron High School. The Minis are a powerhouse with a fantastic Charity Festival, thanks to I. Somerville and all his coaches and helpers. Thank you to this year’s Committee of G. Tedeschi, I. McVean, G. Hunter and M. Bastock. Thanks also to Fintry Sports Club for catering, I. Bruce for his work on the pitches, T. Yuill for his press reports and A. Summers for photos and the website. Thanks to the Honorary Members I. McVean, C. Johnstone and T.Yuill. The renewal is that more members come forward to help the Club, peer pressure on players to train and play and to build strength in depth. If standing again my objectives will be 1st XV promoted, complete 2nd XV fixture list, strengthen the Juniors, a Tour and successful social events.

4. Treasurer’s Report:- Gavin Hunter went over the Audited Accounts which had been circulated prior to the meeting. He thanked all sponsors to the Club this season. He answered questions on the accounts from the floor. The adoption of the accounts was proposed by A. Summers and seconded by M. Bastock.

5. Secretary’s Report:- Ian McVean went over his report which had been circulated prior to the meeting. He answered questions about the changes in the Reserve Leagues and about the Floodlight Planning application. The adoption of the Secretary’s report was proposed by D. Porteous and seconded by D. Spence.

6. Club Coach’s Report:- Due to the non-availability of A. Coldwell, D Porteous read out a prepared statement. Good performance by 1st XV in the league and cup, 2nd XV have done well except for 3 away games, new coach next season is Dave Cook, improvement in fitness and skills will made us promoted next season and thanks to N. MacQuarrie for his work at Balfron High School. 7. Election of Office Bearers for 2010/2011

Bobby Holmes senior would be 2nd XV Manager next season and the new Committee woudl co-opt members to fill the positions of 1st XV Vice Captain, 2nd XV Vice Captain, Midi Convenor and 1st XV Manager.

8. A. O. C. B.:-

(a) Drymen Show is on Saturday 29th May and Club members are needed to organise the car parking, Gordon Yuill is in charge of this.

(b) On the 6th June there will be a Treasure Hunt organised by the Rugby Club as part of Killearn Week.

(c) The Clay Pigeon Shoot will be on 19th June and Club members are needed to help run this event, Mark Gibson and Charlie Johnstone are in charge of this.

(d) Polo shirts will be part of the outfit for players on Saturdays.

(e) C. Johnstone asked about the midis next season. N. Hawkins replied that the SVQ Officer does coaching sessions with minis and midis and taster sessions in Primary Schools. Nick Hawkins will have a meeting with the SRU Development Officer about the section. Discussion took place between the members about the midi fixtures and player availability.

(f) Discussion took place between the members about postponed matches in the 2nd XV League and the penalties awarded by the League.

The meeting was closed at 1.50pm.
