MIDLAND PARK HIGH SCHOOL BAND PROGRAM
MARCHING BAND 2013-2014
Now is your chance to sign up to be part of the 2013 Marching Band. During 2012 the Band performed their show “Pictures: A Portrait of Life.” The show was well received by audiences all over New York and New Jersey.
2013 promises to be an exciting year as well. The staff is busy reviewing musical selections that can be used for next year’s show. Now is your chance to join the group and to be part of the Marching Band or Color Guard next year. You must sign up before December 3rd.
The band program requires a big commitment, but it is well worth the effort. Band members will tell you that the hard work at the beginning of the year translates to fun and success on the field in October. A brief description of the season may help you with your decision.
Each year begins with Mini Camp in May or June. This first day gives everyone a chance to meet and see what the season is going to be like. Band Camp, in August, is our big chance to get good! During the week of camp we learn the show for the season and do our first performance.
Once Band Camp is over, we rehearse every Tuesday and Thursday night through the end of October. We also have something each weekend. This could include practice, football games, and/or competitions. Each season more than 30% of the band members participate in sports teams as well. This is not a concern. Attendance at all practices and performances is very important but we can work with you to resolve conflicts.
We finish our season with a Championship performance at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, NY. This is an overnight trip that all members must attend.
