YOUTH MINISTRY INTERN August 2014-December 2014

Highland Church of Christ Abilene, TX

I am currently serving as the Youth Ministry Intern with the Highland Church of Christ youth group. This opportunity is allowing me to experience what youth ministry looks like during the school year, as opposed to what it is during the summer. Responsibilities for this position included working in the office, going to different events with or for students in the group, meeting weekly with students for lunch at their school, teaching class on Sunday morning and Wednesday nights, recruiting volunteers and group leaders, planning and organizing different retreats and weekends, and establishing relationships with students.

WAREHOUSE INTERN May 2014-August 2014

Global Samaritan Resources Abilene, TX

I served as the Warehouse Intern for Global Samaritan Resources here in Abilene, a non-profit organization that specializes in providing relief and resources to anyone and everyone that needs it. My tasks included providing help with unloading and loading of shipments, organizing different youth groups and other groups who came in for a week at a time to help the work of this organization, and to perform any other various needed tasks. Specifically when working with youth or student groups, I was tasked with keeping the group focused on the work to be completed, while also providing a space for a fun and enjoyable time while working with Global Samaritan Resources.

COLLEGE MINISTRY INTERN August 2012- May 2014

Highland Church of Christ Abilene, TX

I served as one of three college ministry interns at Highland for this school year. Responsibilities include setting up for class every Sunday, occasionally teaching class, co-leading a small group, help with planning the university ministry calendar, planning and running all other events associated, and regularly meeting with students.

GRADUATE ASSISTANT August 2013- Present

Robert Oglesby, Dr. Houston Heflin, & Dr. Wendell Willis Abilene, TX

I worked as the graduate assistant for both Professor Robert Oglesby and the Center for Youth and Family Ministry, and for Dr. Wendell Willis for the 2013-2014 school year. I will continue working with Robert Oglesby for the Fall 2014 semester, but will work with Dr. Houston Heflin for this semester instead of Dr. Wendell Willis. Responsibilities for each of these graduate assistantships include proctoring tests, grading essays and quizzes, creating documents and presentations, entering grades on OpenClass, setting up for class by checking attendance and preparing the computer and PowerPoint, creating a comprehensive bibliography, conducting brief research, coordinating and managing the Internship Interview Day last semester and this Fall semester as well, serving a liaison between students and churches, and occasionally teaching class.

MEDIA SPECIALIST January 2012- May 2013

ACU Learning Studio Abilene, TX

During the school year, I worked as a media specialist, performing various tasks such as helping students with any questions they have concerning any and all multimedia projects, aiding students in checking out multimedia equipment, creating Excel spreadsheets, typing Word documents, troubleshooting, aiding and assisting students with other multimedia software, and overseeing the media lab.

YOUTH INTERN May- August 2011, 2012, & 2013

Clear Lake Church of Christ Houston, TX

This was my second, third, and fourth internship, in that I was invited back to spend multiple summers with this group. I was in charge of both high school and middle school students. I worked with one female intern the first summer, and with two female co-interns the second and third summers, as well as both a male and female youth minister. The youth group was around 75 active students, but I was able to establish great relationships with all of the students. Assigned tasks included: collaborating with the youth ministry team in planning out the summer, planning and teaching both Sunday morning and Wednesday night classes with my co-intern, helping in planning and leading worship times, planning various youth group activities, and helping to plan and lead our mission trips to Illinois, Colorado, Dallas, and Houston.

YOUTH INTERN May- August 2010

Riverside Church of Christ Coppell, TX

This was my first internship, and I was technically classified as the male high school intern. However, since the youth group was around 150 kids, I worked alongside the three other interns, and I was also to build relationships with most of the teens in the group. Assigned tasks included: teaching the senior high class every Sunday with the female senior high intern, writing curriculum for and co-leading a small group at a week of camp, creating the daily journal for our mission trip to Costa Rica, and leading a group of teens in a weekly service project.
