Meeting Best Practices:

You have real interest growing maybe its time to host a meeting. Here are some ideas to put into action.

SET UP A MEETING

You’ve secured a location date and time. Let’s prepare for the meeting. It’s nice to wear team colors to set yourself out from the attendees. Also, It’s nice to add visual appeal by displaying trophies and other sailing items such as gear.

Print the Sign-In sheet and Information Sheet from the Resources. Have those ready to pass out when people fill your space.

TAlking Points

If you have other parents doing this with you, it is nice to break up speaking roles with another parent. You all can have a turn at speaking.

• Sailing not only involves a high level of physical strength and agility but it teaches students about navigation, physics, the marine environment, and the importance of teamwork.

• Talk about Practices, times, safety.
• Supervised use of host club facilities, offering quality access to the water.
• Safety and rescue boats are on the water at all times with liability coverage under the Club’s insurance policy.
• Professional coaching during regattas and practices
• Talk about Regattas
• Possible travel and times to be there.
• Gear. Have some examples of what is expected and optional items.
• Wrap up with taking Questions
• Thank you for coming. Ask them to sign up!

FOLLOW UP

It is nice to follow up with a thank you email to all that attended your meeting. Be sure to include asking them to sign up for the next sailing season.
