Mapping Skills Are Mapped Against Unit Elements Where the Completion of the Skill Can Be

Mapping – skills are mapped against unit elements where the completion of the skill can be part of the implemented skills. Mapping does not show elements from Diploma of Nursing units that may underpin skill completion (i.e. Legal issues, WHS and infection control skills are not mapped against all skills, but will be part of all implemented skills.)

Mapping of Essential Skills to HLT51612: Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled-Division 2 nursing)
Skills in the ‘Essential Clinical Skills: enrolled-division 2 nurses’ have been mapped against unit elements from core units in HLT51612. The mapping proposes where implementation of nursing care actions could include completion of the skill. These units identified more frequently are those focused on nursing care. The mapping does not show elements from core units in HLT51612 that may underpin skill completion.
There are some elements from core HLT51612 units that do underpin the majority of skills. These include:
HLTIR403 – elements 1,2 3
HLTIR404 – elements 3,4
HLTEN401 – elements 1,2,3,7
HLTWHS – elements 1,2
HLTIN301 – elements 1,2,3,4,5,6
HLTEN502 – elements 1,2,3,4,5,8
HLTEN508 – elements 2,3,4
HLTEN509 – elements 1,2,3,4,5
Elective units HLTEN519 (Administer and monitor intravenous medication in the nursing environment) and HLTEN511 (Provide nursing care for clients requiring palliative care) have been included in some parts of the mapping where the skill may be specific to or relevant to this elective unit. /

* The skill ‘Mental state assessment’ could be included as part of all patient assessment and admission processes. However, the described skill is focused on the application of this skill in a mental health setting and may include a higher level of patient assessment than is required for assessing the mental state of patients in a general care setting.
