KC SHOOT-OUT INDOOR TOURNAMENT OFFICIAL RULES

Target:

1. First day of competition, all divisions will shoot one 360 round shooting twelve, 5 arrow ends. Archer’s choice of 40 cm, “NFAA Blue-White 5 spot” target face, or the standard 40 cm single spot Indoor target face, with “X” scoring as highest value points….

2. Second day of competition, all divisions will shoot one 330 round shooting ten, 3 arrow ends. Archer’s choice of 40 cm, Gold /Red/Blue “3 Spot Vegas” target face, or the standard 40 cm single spot Indoor target face, with “X” scoring as highest value points….

3. Archer’s can hang new target face at any time during the scoring round… You cannot change your type of target face during a scoring round.

4. NFAA equipment rules will apply. For equipment questions, please reference the NFAA Constitution and Bylaws

Score Card: Double Scoring will be used with minimum of (3) shooters per target bale. Each group will appoint two score keepers, also a target captain who will call arrows will be appointed. Shooters who disagree with the target captain’s call may ask for the line judge to call the disputed arrow. Arrows and target face may not be touched until all arrows on the bale are (Scored, Agreed Upon & Recorded.) The line judge’s call will be final. Scorecards must be signed as correct by shooter and both scorers. Scorecards must be turned in no later than 1 hour after the end of the round shot. Scorecards signed by the shooters must be correct and reflect the actual score achieved by the shooter. Failure to do this will result in disqualification.

Distance: Adult, Young Adult, Youth Divisions 20 yards and cubs less than 12 years of age will be 10 yards.

Rounds: All divisions will shoot one round on the first day of competition and will consist of twelve ends; 5 arrows per end with 4 minute time limit on the NFAA “NFAA Blue-White 5 spot” or “Vegas single spot” target face…. All divisions will shoot one round on the second day of competition and will consist of ten ends; 3 arrows per end with 2 minute time limit on the NFAA “3 Spot Vegas” or “Vegas single spot” spot target face.

Flights: You will shoot in your regular division and will be determined by the highest total score from both days of competition for this event. The flights will have ten to fifteen shooters each.

Ties / Shoot off Rules: Championship Division winners will be determined by the highest total score from both days of competition. If a tie exists for 1st place in the Championship Division, there will be a shoot off. This will consist of one practice end followed by two scoring ends using NFAA “3 Spot Vegas” target face. Archers will post a new target every end during the shoot off, starting with the first scoring end. Scoring will be 3 arrow ends of normal scoring, Gold (X-ring as 11, 10, 9 points), Red (8, 7 points) and Blue (6 points) for a possible two end score of 66). Scoring will be single elimination (i.e. if 3 way tie for 1st place, shooters not matching the highest score will be eliminated). If a tie still exists, then a shoot off consisting of an arrow for arrow sudden death, inside out scoring, will be in effect. One arrow at a time will be shot until a winner is determined. Shooters will be required to shoot their arrows in sequence on their target face: #1 #2 #3. All other ties from 3rd place and down will be broken by determining which archer had the first “end” miss on the Vegas 330 round.

Protests: Any incident requiring immediate decision must be brought to the attention of a referee. All protests must be submitted in writing to the TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR within one hour of the conclusion of the round where the incident occurred, accompanied by $50 U.S. The Tournament Rules Committee will convene approximately 1 hour after the last scoring end of each day to decide the outcome of each protest. All decisions of the Tournament Rules Committee will be final.

Equipment Failure: In the event of equipment failure, step back from the shooting line and raise your bow above your head. A referee will come to your assistance. The archer will have 15 minutes repair time without holding up the tournament. One practice end will be allowed. The archer shall be allowed to shoot any arrows missed during the 15 minutes. All make-up arrows will be shot at the end of the round.

Shooting Rules:

1. “NFAA Blue-White 5 spot” target face, each end (time period to shoot five arrows) shall be 4 minutes.

2. “3 Spot Vegas” round, each end (time period to shoot three arrows) shall be 2 minutes.

3. Maximum arrow shaft diameter allowed will be 0.422 inches, with a point diameter not to exceed 0.425 inches. The shaft diameter will include any wrap placed on the arrow and will include the size of the nock and the nock insert.

4. An archer shooting before or after the whistle signaling a 4-minute or 2-minute end will lose their highest scoring arrow or arrows equaling the number of errant arrows shot.

5. When using the 3 spot targets, an archer may shoot the spots in any order. However, there must be only one arrow in each of the spots. If two arrows are in the one spot, then the lowest value is scored and the other is a zero.

6. If an archer shoots less than five or three arrows in one end, he/she may shoot the remaining arrows if the omission is discovered before the end is officially completed; otherwise they shall be scored as misses.

7. An archer who purposely disfigures a target face to improve aiming or for any other reason, may be disqualified. Arrow holes may be repaired, provided there is no delay to the round.

8. Any archer conducting himself in an unsportsmanlike manner will be IMMEDIATELY disqualified.

9. Professional members of the NFAA are required to meet current dress code standards for competition.

10. Peak compound bow draw weight shall not exceed 80 lbs. with a maximum speed of 300 FPS with a 3% variance.

Scoring Rules:

1. A referee will make all decisions on scoring questionable arrows; their decisions are final.

2. All arrows must remain in the target, untouched, until scoring is completed & recorded.

3. Any archer deliberately touching any questionable arrow or any part of the target assembly (including other arrows, faces, pins, mat or stand) will result in the questionable arrow being scored in the lower scoring area.

Archer’s choice of 40 cm, “NFAA Blue-White 5 spot” target face White (6, 5 points), Blue (4 points), scoring rings, or the standard 40 cm single spot Indoor Target Face, (6-5-4-3-2-1) scoring rings, with “X” scoring as highest value points….

5. Second day of competition, all divisions will shoot one 330 round shooting ten, 3 arrow ends. Archer’s choice of 40 cm, Gold /Red/Blue “3 Spot Vegas” target face , Gold (11, 10, 9 points), Red (8, 7 points), and Blue (6 points) scoring rings, or the standard 40 cm single spot Indoor Target Face with (11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1) scoring rings, with “X” scoring as highest value points…. VERY IMPORTANT: Ties are broken based upon first “end miss” on the Vegas 330 round. Each end’s score are to be recorded on the scorecards by the sequence from HIGHEST to LOWEST score by arrow.

6. Arrows must touch the line to be in the next highest scoring area.

7. Any arrow that passes beyond the shooting line a distance greater than 10 feet as measured to the closest part of the arrow, will be considered a shot arrow. See line on the floor.

8. If an arrow is embedded in the target beyond the nock and a referee cannot determine the value of that arrow, it will be considered a pass through, and will be re-shot. NO ARROWS WILL BE PUSHED BACK.

9. Each competitor must check and sign his own scorecard. Both scorers must also sign it. When there is a difference on the two cards, the lowest score must be taken. ANY ARCHER TURNING IN AN INCORRECT SCORE CARD WILL BE SUBJECT TO DISQUALIFICATION.

1. NFAA pay scale is used for payouts in the Championship Divisions.
