1.  Purpose of job

·  Be the first point of contact for students in the Sixth Form

·  Provide support to students in the Sixth Form and teaching staff as detailed below

·  To maintain accurate records and implement systems for attendance and punctuality

·  To work with the Heads of Year 12 and 13 under the leadership of the Director of Sixth Form to ensure the welfare and excellent pastoral support of all students

2.  Summary of Key Responsibilities

·  Take a lead role in the development, implementation and monitoring of systems relating to attendance and integration e.g. registration, truancy, pastoral systems, etc.

·  To take a proactive role in supporting students and Sixth Form staff

·  To make contact with home in the event of a student absence or concerns about punctuality. To efficiently implement ‘Truancy Call’.

·  To write letters to parents regarding concerns about attendance and punctuality

·  To log communication with parents and to maintain an accurate and up to date student record

·  To ensure all registers in the Sixth Form, for both tutor time and lessons, are accurately recorded. To contact teachers if registers are not completed.

·  Administrative support e.g. dealing with correspondence, compilation/analysis/reporting on attendance, making phone calls.

·  Supervision of the Sixth Form areas to ensure students behave in an appropriate way suitable for learning

·  To support students in developing good habits and skills of learning

·  To provide administrative support for Enrolment and Induction Days

·  To liaise with teachers and form tutors regarding student welfare as necessary

·  Manage record keeping systems and processes

·  Establish productive working relationships with students, acting as a role model.

·  To act as mentor for selected groups of students as agreed with the Heads of Year 12 and 13

·  To maintain and update Sixth Form Student files

3.  General

·  Attend meetings as necessary

·  Participate in school wide projects and tasks

·  Contribute to the school’s commitment to continuous improvement as identified in the School Development Plan

·  Participate in whole school activities which will occasionally require attendance outside normal working hours

·  Ensure leave is not taken during the two weeks in August when examination results are published

·  The above job description is subject to reasonable review and may be changed in line with the school’s needs, following consultation with the post holder

4. Necessary Experience and skills/qualifications

·  Very good numeracy/literacy skills

·  High level IT skills

·  Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills

·  Ability to relate to young people

·  Has responsibility to provide appropriate support to the Director of Sixth Form and students in the Sixth Form
