Hours of work: 21 hours per week

Salary: £24,500 FTE; £13,905 per year

Length of contract: Initially for 1 year with possibility for extension

Summary of Responsibilities:

This role has been developed to ensure inclusive and productive volunteer involvement in all aspects of work carried out at the Bridge. You will be responsible for recruitment, induction and supervision of volunteers into a range of roles within the centre, working closely with adults, many of whom are experiencing barriers to participation in mainstream learning and work activities. As a skilful team player you will coordinate volunteering activities and support our task supervisors (paid staff who work alongside volunteers) to ensure that volunteers leave having had a worthwhile and skills enhancing experience.

Key tasks:

Area of Work / Main tasks and responsibilities
Volunteer Engagement / ·  To facilitate the recruitment, induction and supervision of a caseload of volunteers
·  To ensure that all volunteers have an up-to-date learning plan and that progressions are planned for and supported
·  To generate appropriate volunteering opportunities and role descriptions based on the needs of the organisation
·  Work with Bridge colleagues to develop tailored packages of supported volunteering and responsive training opportunities (accredited and non-accredited) with particular emphasis on reception, customer service, administration, and catering roles.
·  Develop creative marketing and outreach activities to grow the pool of volunteers and access hard-to-reach groups
·  To monitor, support, motivate and accredit volunteers in their volunteer work
·  To celebrate volunteering by nominating volunteers for awards, organising celebration events and promoting their contributions on social media
Management and organisational tasks / ·  To work to and report on set targets in a timely manner and with a strong emphasis on participants’ progression
·  To review and implement relevant policies and procedures relating to volunteer involvement
·  To carry out risk assessments for new volunteer roles and on individual volunteers as required
·  To maintain accurate volunteer and database records for each participant
·  Assist the Learning & Participation Manager with the attainment and ongoing quality assurance review against Quality Standards (currently Investing in Volunteers and Matrix)
·  Assist the Learning & Participation Manager with the management of volunteer budgets and resources, including the reimbursement of expenses
·  keep up to date with legislation and policy related to volunteering and collaborate with the Learning & Participation Manager in making necessary modifications to accommodate changes
Other Matters / General
·  Contribute to the continued creation of a supportive and inclusive culture of volunteer involvement within the Bridge as a whole
·  to work with multiple agencies across different sectors in order to establish good working relationships to raise the profile of and influence decisions about inclusive volunteering in the City
·  To attend supervision and team meetings
·  Undertake relevant training
·  Any other duty deemed relevant to the post and as requested by your line manager

Person Specification / Essential or Desirable
Knowledge and experience / Proven track record of successfully engaging and supporting volunteers and developing volunteer roles / E
Practical experience of working with vulnerable adults and people experiencing multiple and complex barriers to engagement in learning and work / E
Experience of developing and delivering training and group sessions / E
Understanding and experience of implementing safeguarding procedure and policies / E
Empathy with the client group and dedication towards working with adults in a solution focused and progressive manner / E
Experience of working to and reporting on targets / E
Experience of the voluntary sector and understanding of the role of volunteering / E
Understanding of the welfare benefit system and its impact on beneficiaries / D
Knowledge of Health & Safety, Employment and Equal Opportunities legislation / D

Qualifications

/ Relevant professional Volunteering qualification and/or Information Advice and Guidance qualification CIAG level 3 or equivalent professional qualification / D
