Brief course description / This course is designed to acquaint the student with selected themes of the Pauline passages. The student will be introduced to Pauline themes and theology through the study of key words and phrases in the text. Each week there will be assigned a specific theme which student should develop and discuss with a professor.
1. The student will gain a clear understanding of the content of the Pauline epistles studied.
2. The student will be able to identify and reflect upon the significance of key Pauline doctrines, themes, words, and phrases, so as Paul’s methodology.
3. The student will be aware of the unique concerns, themes, topics, theology, outline, chronology, and purposes of each of the Pauline Epistles studied in the class, and how these interact with, differ, or complement one another throughout the Pauline corpus.
4. Students will be involved in quality research of primary sources in seeking to understand and apply the content of the assigned portions of Pauline text to the theology as whole.
5. Each student will develop a class or sermon presentation based upon the assigned Pauline text.
