How to Conduct Research and Create Citations

HOW TO CONDUCT RESEARCH AND CREATE CITATIONS

Easybib.com – open easybib.com. Then open a new tab.

1.  Books

  1. Go to ibistro.austinisd.org
  2. Select Gorzycki
  3. Enter search term
  4. Do a “subject” search
  5. Select a relevant title, pull the book from the shelf to see if it’s what you need. If it is . . .
  6. Click the title
  7. Copy the ISBN number
  8. Go to the Easybib tab.
  9. Select Book
  10. Past the ISBN number and click Cite It
  11. “Select” the correct book from the list, click Cite This
  12. At the bottom, click “Create Citation”
  13. Copy the citation and paste it on a Word document.

2.  Websites

  1. Do a Google search on your topic
  2. Select an appropriate website
  3. Copy the URL
  4. Paste the URL onto the Easybib search bar. Click Cite It
  5. Look at the information you should try to find from the website. Click Continue
  6. Fill in the boxes in red if possible. You will have to click back and forth between your website and Easybib.
  7. Click Create Citation at the bottom
  8. Copy and paste the citation on your Word document.

Databases – go to ibistro.austinisd.org (Great for encyclopedias and magazines)

1.  Click Knowledge Portal at the top

2.  Select a database (Ebsco is the example we are using)

3.  Select Student Research Center

4.  Deselect the resources you do not want

5.  Enter your search term and search

6.  Select an appropriate title

7.  Click the HTML Full Text link

8.  To cite:

  1. Click print
  2. Click print again
  3. Close the print box
  4. Copy and paste the citation (located below “Works Cited”) onto your Word Document

To save your Word Document (titled Citations) to your home folder:

1.  Click the Microsoft icon at the top left corner of your screen

2.  Click on “Save as”

3.  Click “My Computer” in the pop-up window

4.  Double click the line that has your student ID number.

5.  Click save.
