118/08 / POLICE MATTERS
1.  Councillor Sherratt reported that gangs of youths were gathering outside the chip shop on Salisbury Derive. He was concerned that there appears to be a lack of Police presence in the Lower Midway area. Other Councillors agreed with Councillor Sherratt. There was a general feeling That Lower Midway falls between 2 Police areas.
RESOLVED Clerk to write to the Police and ask which Police Officer is responsible for the Lower Midway area.
2.  Councillor Mrs Burley reported that the new Beat Officer for Goseley is PC Oliver and he has been seen making regular patrols in the area.
3.  Councillor Mrs Burley reported that the Police Central Control telephone number has changed to 0345 123 333 from 1 December. The old 0845 123 333 is still available.
4.  Councillor Jenkinson reported that the hairdresser’s on Repton Road had their oil stolen from their storage tank; this follows a similar incident at D Birchell’s farm. Both incidents are being investigated by the Police.
119/08 / MATTERS ARISING
1.  Item 110/08 – Councillor Jenkinson reported that there was a meeting at the Methodist Church last week. There was a lack of commitment for those who attended. However it was hoped that the congregation will improve, particularly over the Christmas period.
2.  Item 106/08 – Following the long delay in resolving the improvements required to the web site it was proposed by Councillor Sherratt and seconded by Councillor Mrs Burley that the Parish Council purchase DreamWeaver at an approximate cost of £350.00.
RESOLVED the Parish Council purchase Dream Weaver. Clerk to write to N Jenkinson confirming the decision.
120/08 / HIGHWAYS, PAVEMENTS & PUBLIC FOOTPATHS
1.  Councillors were concerned by the lack of gritting of minor roads and pavements following the recent cold spell. Councillor Jones said gritting was the responsibility of the County Council but they only had funds available to grit main roads. Several Councillors said that grit bins had not been filled. It was pointed out that some bins are the responsibility of the Parish Council to maintain.
2.  The Clerk said that he had agreed with the County Council to fill up the bin at Gravel Pit Lane at a cost of £58.00 as per the agreement of March 2006.
3.  Councillor Mrs Burley asked if the grit bin from behind the Community Hall can be moved to a more accessible position.
4.  Councillor Mrs Slawson reported an accident on Manchester Lane, and asked if Manchester Lane was on the County Council’s gritting route.
RESOLVED-
I.  the action of the Clerk is confirmed in respect of Gravel Pit Lane.
II. Parish Councillors to carry out an audit of grit bins in their area and report to the Parish Clerk those bins that require filling.
III.  Clerk to contact N Dawson to move the grit bin at the rear of the Community Centre.
IV.  Clerk to ascertain if Manchester Lane is on the County Council’s gritting route.
121/08 / PARISH NEWSLETTER
1.  Unfortunately the Recreation Sub committee did not meet on 26 November.
RESOLVED to rearrange a date for a Recreation Sub committee at the January Parish Council meeting.
122/08 / RECREATION GROUNDS & ALLOTMENTS
1.  Councillor Mrs Burley said following an inspection of the Goseley she was concerned at the poor drainage at the car park at the side of 1 Mount Road.
RESOLVED Clerk to contact Chris Payne at SDDC to carry out an inspection of the area to see what remedial work is required.
2.  Councillor Sherratt said that the swing gate at the entrance to the recreation ground at Goseley had still not been replaced.
123/08 / PLANNING MATTERS
Applications
Reg No: 9 2008 1014 FM the erection of four dwellings on land between 11 13 Goseley Avenue, Hartshorne. REASON FOR RECONSULTATION amended plans.
The Parish Council are still concerned that the bus stop is still to close to the junction of. Brookdale Road. Councillors were also concerned that there a potential problem with the garages at the rear were it was felt it was an area for youths to congregate. This problem could be resolved by additional fencing.
1.  Councillor Burley presented a 277 signed petition to District Councillor Murray objecting to the revised position of the bus stop.
