Gardening Newsletter

This is a monthly newsletter based on providing esential gardening help and advice to gardening enthusiasts all over the country. Each week we will be providing you with expert advice and opinion on what you should be doing in your garden to cut down on the work and provide you with pleasure all through the year. As the newsletter progresses we hope to introduce new features, for example, a featured plant of the month, a featured garden of the month and hopefully many more. We would welcome any input you would care to give us – if we can include your suggestions in our newsletter we will certainly endeavour to do so. Hopefully we will progress from the couple of sheets you now see to a 6 page newsletter early within the next year. If you have any articles or any contacts in the gardening world, please let us know.

This week sees our resident expert, Peter Jones, expound on some esential and valuable gardening hints and tips for the Spring season in prospect.

Stepping into Spring

How many times have you looked at your garden in the summer and wished you had spent more time in the spring getting things in order. Many novice and experienced gardeners are either unsure about the right time of year to carry out these annual jobs or simply forget. By setting the groundwork in place you can enjoy the benefits of less work in the summer months when you have to spend more of your time cutting the lawn and looking after the flowering annuals.

The following table gives some valuable advice:

Activity Time of year Bed in new plants well Throughout spring Apply a good feed of compost to help March/April good growth Prune all trees and tall shrubs March

Keep up the good work!

Peter Jones

NEXT MONTH
