General Information:

Call for applications:

-The club will administer the call for applications and determine the number of scholarships to be awarded and the dollar amount each year by a club vote.

Selection:

-The final selection of the recipient(s) of the Food Science Club Scholarship(s) will be made by either a committee of non-eligible Club Members (graduating seniors or graduating graduate students) from the Officer team OR by the Department Scholarship Selection Committee. Method of selection will be set by a club vote each year.

-Selection criteria will be based on club activities, IFT activities, academic achievement, and expressed interest in food science as a career. Club involvement and IFT involvement shall carry the greatest weight.

Distribution:

The award will be made in the spring of each year with the scholarship coming into effect the following fall semester. Monies will be awarded in the form of tuition remission for the entire amount in the fall semester.

Eligibility:

  1. Must be an undergraduate or graduate student enrolled at UNL for the following year.
  2. Must be an active member of the Food Science Club
  3. As stated in Club By-Laws. Article III. Section 3.1
  4. Minimum GPA 2.5

2017 Scholarship Guidelines

  1. (2) Scholarships shall be awarded, $500 each
  2. Undergraduate and Graduate students are eligible to apply.
  3. Final selection of recipients of the Food Science Club Scholarship(s) will be made by a committee of non-eligible Club Members (graduating seniors or graduating graduate students) from the Officer team. At least one Club faculty advisor will be included in the selection process.
  4. Applications must be submitted by March 15, 2017 , or may be mailed or dropped off to Sara Roberts, Food Innovation Center, 1901 N. 21st Street, Room#223, Lincoln, NE 68588-6205.
  5. Scholarship winners will be notified by mail and/or e-mail.
