English Language
Requirements / All incoming exchange students are expected to have an English language ability of CEFR Level B2 (for Erasmus students) or IELTS 6.0 * for study abroad students, where their mother tongue is not English. * IELTS 7.0 for Journalism
With regard to CEFR level B2, we will accept either certification or a letter from the student’s home institution confirming the student’s language ability.
Welcome (Orientation) Week / Students are expected to arrive in time for Welcome Week, where they will enrol on the first day, and also be invited to attend a welcome talk and social networking event hosted by the International Mobility office. A campus tour and library induction will also take place during this week and students will learn of opportunities to go on cultural trips and social events, organised by the Students’ Union and other University bodies. For semester only students, there will be one designated University student housing option which may be at The Gateway or the new Cygnet Wharf at £135-136 per week inclusive of private bathroom and private or shared kitchen, utilities and Wi-Fi.

Student Wellbeing / The University of Lincoln has the appropriate infrastructure for students and
staff with disabilities. However, it is important to note that the University is informed well in advance of the special needs of the exchange student or
staff member by notifying our Wellbeing Service at
General Notes / Before students can enrol as a student at the University of Lincoln, and apply for student housing they need to:
1.  Be nominated by their home University with whom we have a bilateral exchange agreement, either under Erasmus+ or Study Abroad
2.  Complete a formal application from the University of Lincoln
Deadlines for applications are: 30 June for Semester A or full year
1 November for Semester B
Nomination deadlines are usually one month prior to application deadline (see bilateral agreement for specific dates where applicable)
Nomination/Application Process / 1.  Sending Universities to nominate potential exchange students via one of the following routes:
i) directly by email to the programme exchanges coordinator
ii) via Erasmus mailbox
iii) via Study Abroad mailbox
2.  When accepted School Exchanges Administrator to send relevant University of Lincoln application forms, options/module catalogue and option form to students
3.  Students to send completed application form to with copy plus option form, letter of recommendation, and transcript of achieved grades to their exchanges administrator.
4.  The admissions department will enter the student into the University management systems for enrolment, induction, timetabling and accommodation, and send offer letter with student ID.
5.  Welcome pack to be sent to student from School Exchange Administrator and to confirm travel arrangements to Lincoln
