Springer is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the position of Editor-in-Chief for the journal, Abdominal Imaging. In 2012, Abdominal Imaging, became the official journal of the newly formed Society of Abdominal Radiology.Abdominal Imagingaddresses clinical radiology of abdominal disorders, including the alimentary tract and the genitourinary system, providing a unique international source of information to physicians interested in these fields. The journal publishes original papers, case reports, technical and instrumental notes, and invited review articles. The coverage emphasizes diagnostic radiology, including ultrasound, computed tomography, MR imaging, nuclear medicine, and interventional procedures; submission of related pathologic, surgical and clinical material is encouraged.

The Journal publishes six issues per year and utilizes an online manuscript submission and peer-review system. The Editor-in-Chief will serve a five year term and be responsible for managing the editorial content and leading the strategic direction of the Journal. The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for acquiring, reviewing and collating manuscripts for publication and shall work with Springer to produce a timely and informative publication. The Editor-in-Chief will appoint supporting editors and an editorial board that represent global and diverse expertise in the field of abdominal imaging. The Editor-in-Chief will be responsible for meeting with the Editorial Board and Publisher on an annual basis to report on the progress of the Journal.

Applicants should be actively engaged in the practice, teaching, or research of abdominal radiologywith an outstanding publication record, high international regard and recognition. Successful applicants will have experience as an editor, associate editor, or productive editorial board member for a peer-reviewed journal. The applicant must be comfortable working with electronic technology in order to expedite review and publication of submitted manuscripts. The initial term of service for this position is from January 1, 2014 through December 31, 2018, however, the new Editor-in-Chief must be prepared to facilitate the editorial transition beginning in the early fall 2013.The Editor-in-Chief will be compensated for time and effort devoted to the Journal. Springer will also sponsor the annual Editorial Board meeting.

-A succinct letter of interest and qualifications that addresses how the candidate will accommodate the time demands of editing the Journal;

-A vision statement of 700 words or less for the next three years of publication of Abdominal Imaging. The statement should address the primary aims for the direction of the Journal; the organization and responsibilities of the editorial board; types of content and editorial features.
