What can East End Energy Fit do for your clients? Unlimited grants to:  Priority household debts grants to: Clear electricity, gas, water, sewerage, council tax and rent debts  For Clients in exceptional hardship, help to: Purchase beds, cookers, washing machines and refrigerators  For clients in exceptional hardship: Help with other bills and costs telephone debts, funeral payments, repairs/replacement, debt relief order fees and bankruptcy deposits  Other Grants including the Warm Home Discount scheme and grants for home heating and insulation  Energy saving tips to reduce future bills  Help for vulnerable clients: to access priority register, meters moves, free gas and safety checks

Who can we help? Anyone who is suffering hardship and can’t make ends meet, because they have built up utility debts or face one-off essential costs. Which clients are most likely to get an energy trust grant? To get a grant, people need to be able to show that: They can’t balance their budget and meet their ongoing household costs, because of:  arrears in household debts (principally fuel and water, but exceptionally phone, rent, and council tax). and  one-off expenses for essentials without which they will suffer significant hardship or face higher living costs. These essentials could be household goods like beds, fridges, cookers, washing machines; funeral costs, bankruptcy fees. Or  With the help of the grant, they will be able to balance their budget and pay their bills in the future Clients who don’t qualify for a grant, however, may still benefit from the other help we offer. A number of energy providers such as British Gas Trust, EDF Energy Trust and N Power Energy Fund have set aside grant money in order to support individuals facing utility (gas, electricity, water) debts and other priority debts and bills.

The aim is to improve the quality of individual lives by helping to reduce the burden of debt, relieve poverty and suffering caused by fuel poverty and giving individuals the opportunity of a fresh start and to manage future bills. It aims to ensure individuals achieve longer term financial stability and planning and improve their economical wellbeing.

EDF Energy Trust and British Gas Energy Trust are funding the East End Energy Fit project being delivered by Bromley by Bow Centre and Toynbee Hall.

What is excluded? Grants cannot be given for the following: ● Fines for criminal offences ● Educational or training needs ● Overpayments of benefits ● Catalogues, credit cards or personal loans ● Medical equipment, aids and adaptations ● Debts to central government (taxes or national insurance) ● Holidays payments ● Business Debts
