Jurien Sea Rescue put a communication letter stating that the Cervantes 27 MHz radio link had been destroyed and they have approached FESA to repair it. FESA informed Jurien Sea Rescue that because the 27 MHz is going to be phased out, there have been no funds allocated to repair the tower. FESA advised Jurien Sea Rescue that the whole state of WA will be coming in line with the rest of Australia by going to the VHF system. Well done to John Rochford and crew winning many awards. A special thank you to Sheree Rochford who organised Barrocco’s and the hotel accommodation at The Acacia Hotel.

Due to the huge success of the Club BBQ last year it has been decided that another one will be held this year more than likely in early February after the Two Rocks field day.

The proposed date for the seafood BBQ this year will be March 19th more information will be supplied closer to the date.

General Business

Lancelin field day

Due to the surging conditions that can occur at Lancelin a motion was put forward and carried that if required, a tractor will be arranged to pull boats out and be paid for by the club to a value of $100

Species prize sponsorship

JJ Concrete Pumping Services has kindly donated money to double the species prize money at long weekend competitions.

New Drifters Shirts

The new style Drifters shirts have arrived many thanks to Mark Sinclair and Tyrepower for the shirts. Also special thanks to Bob Taylor for arranging the screen printing, the shirts do look great.

$1000 WINNER TAKES ALL FIELD DAY

“$1000 Winner Take All” field day will be open to both members and non-members alike. The cost will be $100 per boat. The main aim of this day would to try to generate interest in the club and perhaps attract old Drifters members back as well as new members. While the rules and framework is still being set, below are some idea’s that have been generated so far.

3 venues are being considered Cockburn, Mindarie & Point Peron

1.  Winning boat to be decided by total boat weight divided by number of anglers.

2.  Will NOT be held on club field day.

3.  Drifter rules to apply.

4.  Most probably held with in metro area to maximise turn out.

5.  Only amateur boats – No licensed fisherman.

Please feedback both positive and negative comments about this would be appreciated.

Drift Anchors

High quality large drift anchors are now available from Gavin Gleeson’s Waters Edge Motor Trimmers.

Break Sea Cod Frames
