Barczi A Note from the Director Sister Berthe, Mistress of Novices . Barbara Heninger Sister Sophia . Kama. Belloni The first time I saw “The Sound of Music” was in the movie theater Nuns, Novices and Postulants . Marti Coyne, Dawn Johnson, as a little girl . I absolutely loved the film . A few years later I bought a paperback Leslie Keenan, Elizabeth Claire Lawrence, Melina Lora, copy of the script, took it home, read it through immediately and realized it was Robin Merriam, Lynn Salazar, Laura Stanford, actually a script of the stage version . I was startled by the many differences between Christine Stone, Jennifer Young, Dawn Zamudio the stage version and the film . The characters were the same, and the story line was Maria Rainer, a Postulant at Nonnberg Abbey . Minna Rogers not changed, but many of the songs were different or sung by different characters Captain Georg von Trapp . Robert. Solis in different scenes . In spite of the differences, I desperately wanted to be in this play some day . I hoped to play one of the children, and then later I hoped to play Franz, the Butler . Paul. Hale Maria . But in spite of my many years in theater and the number of shows I’ve Frau Schmidt, the Housekeeper . .Marcia Sternin done, this one has always eluded me . So when the opportunity presented itself to Liesl . Lydia. Merriam-Pigg direct “The Sound of Music” for WVLO, I jumped at the chance . Rolf Gruber . John Eubank I was absolutely thrilled, but now I was faced with the dilemma that all directors Elsa Schraeder . .Erica Rogers of this show face and that is how to resolve the differences between this classic film Max Detweiler . .Matt Tipton and its stage version . I wanted to include two of my favorite songs (‘I Have Con- fidence’, and ‘Something Good’) which were in the film but not in the stage play . Herr Zeller . David Edwards Fortunately the rights to these numbers were available, so they’re in this production . Baron Elberfeld . Jerry. “Godfather” The rest of the script has been kept intact, including the two songs that were not in Admiral von Schreiber . Bill Ereneta the film, for Max, the Baroness, and the Captain (“How Can Love Survive?” and Priest . Hank Lawson “No Way To Stop It”), but which enhance the character of the Baroness . New Postulant . Elizabeth Claire Lawrence Although on stage we cannot really give you beautiful mountain views, we Nazis . Jim Gray and Hank Lawson have done our best to show some of the beauty of Austria . One thing I love about the stage version is its playfulness . I hope you will feel the genuine affection that Neighbors of the von Trapp family . Jim. Gray, Dawn Johnson, Leslie Keenan, has grown between our players . It has been delightful to work with this cast, and Hank Lawson, Elizabeth Claire Lawrence, Melina Lora, there have been many evenings as I drove home from rehearsal thinking “What Michael MacKenzie, Earl Masuda, Laura Stanford, a playful play this is!” I am so grateful to finally have a chance to bring this very Christine Stone, Jennifer Young, Dawn Zamudio special family show to this stage .
