Nigeria=s Economic Crisis Bibliographic Sources to 1996 Introduction The following bibliography developed in conjunction with the research project AMoney Morals: The Decline of the Naira in the Social Life and Popular Culture of Nigeria, 1985B1995,@ undertaken by Jane Guyer and LaRay Denzer. To prepare this bibliography, Northwestern University=s Online Catalog (NUcat) and Northwestern=s online catalog of papers presented at African studies conferences (AFRC) were used, along with extensive database searches, particularly the social sciences databases. For all of these resources, keyword searches were conducted through April 1996. The searches yielded enormous bibliographic materials related in some way or another to this project. The bibliography presented here includes only a partial listing of these materials, and they are grouped into four categories that were keywords in the searches: banks and banking, credit, inflation, and Structural Adjustment Program (SAP). There is minimal overlap in the results of the searches for the different categories. The bibliography is of a manageable size that readers may easily consult all the categories. It is important to note that the entries are materials that are available, with very few exceptions, at the Melville J. Herskovits Library of African Studies at Northwestern University. Many of the materials listed in this bibliography circulate and are available through Interlibrary Loan. The collection of the Melville J. Herskovits Library of African Studies and the Africana Conference Paper Index can be found in NUcat, Northwestern University=s on-line computer catalog. NUcat and AFRC are accessible from the Herskovits Library home page on the World Wide Web: <http://nuinfo.nwu.edu/african-studies/> The Herskovits Library staff are available to help users Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Those who contributed to the preparation of this bibliography appreciate assistance received from the staff of the Melville J.
