Since 1961 ERF broadcast mainly via facilities of Radio Monte Carlo on MW 1467 kHz and SW. From April 1st, ERF will use MW Mainflingen 1539 kHz 24 hours daily. Daytime 120 kW target 150 kms around Frankfurt-Main, from Kassel to Karlsruhe and Saarebruck to Wuerzburg, at night with 700 kW europeanwide. If the new service is successful, contract with RMC MW 1467 kHz will come to an end in October 1997 (but SW via MCO will remain). However, during the Nov 12 elections, Radio Mam was heard on the air well into the evening. Arabic 0500-0600+ UTC LP, possibly reactivated channel. Can't keep up with freq changes of this station, with some occupancies apparently uncoordinated with other broadcasters. (Bob Padula ARDXC Dec 29) LITHUANIA BBC Monitoring has today (29th December) identified the station on 9044 kHz which was first reported by Wolfgang Bueschel in BC-DX. We observed it at 1500 UTC today identifying as Lithuanian Radio from Vilnius. The signal was observed in parallel on 9710 kHz as well as on another frequency, 10376 kHz. Both 10376 and 9044 are mixing products of transmitters on 9710 and 666 kHz at the Sitkunai transmitter site near Vilnius (formula 9710+666=10376; 9710-666=9044). The exact frequencies observed today were 9043.95, 9710.95 and 10376.95 kHz - but this may vary slightly as the 9710 kHz transmitter is subject to some drifting. Eventually AFRTS will be transmitting TV in Tuzla on [VHF] channel 10 - that's the US channel 10 using the NTSC system. US forces in Tuzla, Bosnia, might also tune in to VOA Europe. This contemporary music service is now available via Radio Kameleon on 102.7 MHz in Tuzla. The station presently rebroadcasts VOA Europe 0000-1800 hours local time, but these hours might expand. They also rebroadcast VOA Croatian in the morning. Radio Kameleon in Tuzla also relays Radio Free Europe's Serbo-Croat service on a separate frequency, 99.8 MHz VHF/FM.
