Turkmenistan and Lithuania are in talks about creating a new route connecting the regions of the Caspian, Black and Baltic Seas which will be able to offer prospects in developing the regional and interregional trade-economic relations. 21-22 Nov. 2016 Riga hosted the 3rd meeting of the Turkmenistan- Latvia Intergovernmental Commission on economic, industrial, scientific and technical cooperation. Topics for discussions: opportunities for cooperation, including in the spheres of construction, transportation, IT and communication, agriculture, healthcare and science. The sides discussed about the cooperation on the overland transit and logistics of common routes in order to develop effective and mutually beneficial solutions for cargo transshipment. The volume of bilateral trade between Turkmenistan and Latvia has been growing in the recent years. On October 13, 2014 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan there was the meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Estonia to Turkmenistan (with residence in Astana) Jaan Reinhold, who arrived in Ashgabat for presenting the credential letters. The sides discussed the conditions and perspectives of bilateral relations in political, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres, expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation within the framework of international organizations and development of fruitful dialogue between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries.
