Mayor of Kingborough, Cr Dean Winter, is one of six Labor Party candidates and Cr Gideon Cordover is one of five Tasmanian Greens candidates who will be competing for the five seats allocated to the electoral Division of Franklin in Tasmania’s House of Assembly. Given the impacts on Kingborough Council, the Kingborough Chronicle requested advice on April 7 regarding interim arrangements and potential changes. Council advised that Mayor Winter was to step aside from mayoral duties after the general meeting of council on April 7 and would be on leave for the duration of the election campaign. In the interim, Deputy Mayor of Kingborough, Cr Jo Westwood, will be Acting Mayor. Acting Mayor Westwood will be taking point until the result of the election is known.
