McClure) This year’s theatre production class is proud to present its upcoming show, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” This roman- tic comedy is an excellent challenge for the students at Bayside. With three plots - one magical night, a play within a play and an assortment of misunderstandings, this play will not disappoint audiences. As a translated version, audiences will under- stand and follow one of Shakespeare’s fa- mous plays. The students will be very busy studying and preparing this production all second semester with performance dates to be the beginning of June. Watch for advertise- ments and ticket sales in April. You don’t want to miss out on a night of laughs, in- trigue, and of course the amazing talents Bayside has to offer. Photography Club Bayside’s Photography Club continues to grow and flourish. We have had some interesting questions about astral photography, apps for photos and using filters. Recently we created “Triptych” style photos like the one to the right. (Thanks Mrs.VanGemeren!!) Bring your ques- tions and awesome photos on Wednesdays after school starting again on March 8th! Students accessed the space for quiet study, reading and research help. The Cross Curricular lab was frequently available for MSIP use and many students enjoyed being able to use one of the eight new Chromebooks that arrived in September. Students were also encouraged to use the online learning resources available through the Virtual Learning Commons (https://bss.hpedsb.on.ca/ blogs/library/). Research databases that provide reliable information with citation notes are found on the main page and we are pleased to announce that Literary Reference Centre has returned to our EBSCO database. Learning to use EBSCO is great preparation for post-sec- ondary since 85% of universities and colleges use EBSCO as their main online database. Further, documentation information, including the new 8th edition of the MLA, is available through the Virtual Library (left side bar). Bayside’s Learning Commons is fully staffed by a Teacher Librarian. Students are encouraged to seek out assistance with research, essay writing (includ- ing Works Cited) and novel choices. MSIP provides a great opportunity to access this help, as well as the lunch hour, and for senior students, spares. If you’re in the school to drop off or pick up your son or daugh- ter, stop by the Learning Commons to see what we have to offer. If you haven’t been in in a while, you’ll notice that we are newly renovated and updated to embrace the 21st century! BSS Wrestling & Barbell The 2017 wrestling team is fired up for another season. Anyone interested should see Mr. Allin in the weight room. We are proud to be hosting Bay of Quinte Wrestling on Fecruary 9th. Come out and sup- port your BSS wrestlers. Bayside Barbell wants you!
