UTEP reached the title game of the 2011 tournament at the DHC before bowing out to Memphis. 20TH SEASON FOR FLOYD Tim Floyd embarks on his 20th season as a collegiate head coach during the 2013-14 campaign. Floyd has posted a 386-221 mark during stints at Idaho (1986-88), New Orleans (1988-94), Iowa State (1994-98), USC (2005-09) and UTEP (2010-present). His UTEP record is 58-41 over three seasons. RAPID STRIDES IN 2012-13 After Tim Floyd’s first UTEP team (2010-11) posted 25 wins with a roster that featured eight seniors, he has spent the last two years building the program from the ground up with freshmen. The Miners had seven rookies in 2011-12 and four more in 2012- 13, including Matt Willms who redshirted. Despite their inexperience -- freshmen and sophomores took nine of the 14 roster spots -- the Miners displayed dramatic improve- ment last season. UTEP raised its overall win total from 15 to 18, its conference victory tally from 7 to 10, and advanced a round deeper in the Conference USA Tournament, falling to Southern Miss in the semifinals. ton’s Danuel House (0-for-7 in one game) and SMU’s Jalen Jones (3-for-7 in one game) MORE OF A VETERAN LOOK within Conference USA play.
