LA FLAMME, Norman Albert LaFlamme (Abstracted from https://www.serenitymeadows.com/obituary/laflamme-norman) Norman Albert LaFlamme, age 89, of Lithia, FL passed away on June 7, 2014. He was born on February 20, 1925 in Woonsocket, RI to the late Leo and Florence (Colby) LaFlamme. Norman graduated from Woonsocket High School in 1943 and was President of his class, and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Rhode Island. Norman served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII, Korea, and Vietnam, having been awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star Medals and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after 23 years of service. Norman lived in the Cleveland, OH area for 40 years where he worked for and was part owner of the Cleveland Indians during the 1970's - 80's. He loved baseball, spending time with his grandchildren, and traveling. Norman is survived by his daughter Mary (Shawn) Sarkisian, grandchildren Grace and John Sarkisian, three brothers; John LaFlamme, Donald (Linda) LaFlamme, and Ronald (Gray) LaFlamme. Norman was preceded in death by a brother Leo LaFlamme, and three sisters; Dorothy Whitcher, Bertha McCormick, and Shirley Rainville. Serenity Meadows Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Stephen Catholic Church. Norman will be laid to rest in Section 8, Site 413 at Sarasota National Cemetery with military honors, next to his loving wife, Patricia who passed away in 2009. She was born Dec. 21, 1927. Patricia obtained her bachelors degree in history from Ursaline College and her masters degree in history from John Carroll University. She was a doctoral candidate at Case Western Reserve University, attended Oxford University in England and also the University of Munich in Germany. Patricia taught at the Ursaline College in Cleveland for many years. She is preceded in death by her sister, Mary Morrison. Patricia is survived by her loving family, husband of 42 years, LTCOL USA (Ret) Norman A. LaFlamme; daughter, Mary (Shawn) Sarkisian; sisters, Loretta Cleary, Helen McConville and Alice Sammon; and grandchildren, Grace and John Sarkisian. A funeral mass will be Friday, November 13, 2009 at St. Stephen Catholic Church, followed by an interment in Section 8, Site 413 at Sarasota National Cemetery.
