Students are given a stage to express their views and also display their talents. The assemblies help every student shine in his or her own way and help every student to share their views with each other in an enjoyable manner. The Editorial Team MESSAGE TREASURING NATURE “The best results will be obtained when teachers are able to integrate learning in the natural environment ” n an increasingly urbanised world of today where television, computers dominate and playground areas are receding, many children do not have the opportunity to enjoy Iplaying in nature and are disconnected with nature. The present generation is glued to the virtual world and are lacking a basic knowledge of biodiversity and awareness of its importance. Frequent, positive early childhood experiences with nature can have a major impact on the healthy growth of a child’s mind, body and spirit. Hands-on, informal, self-initiated exploration and discovery in local, familiar environments are often described as the best ways to engage and inspire children and cultivate a sense of place and a sense of wonder. Nature is god’s gift and we should not only enjoy it but also preserve it for the next generations. By exploiting it beyond a reasonable point, we are becoming instrumental in our own downfall. Our education system should emphasize the importance of connecting with nature by the children and instill in them the knowledge about value of nature and conserving nature in their own interest. Today, kids at JHPS should be aware of the global threats to the environment, and with their physical contact, their intimacy with nature, should transform themselves into a future generation of environmental champions.
