Fire Safety Report for 2016, with crime and fire statistics, is now available.T his report contains information on safety and security prevention programs, policies and procedures for reporting crime and hazardous conditions, victim assistance programs, fire prevention pro- grams, and resource information. This information will assist you in maintaining safety and security for yourself and others while on campus or at one of our affiliated off-site locations. In response to incidents of sexual violence, throughout 2016, UC Santa Cruz continued to implement federal, state, and University of California mandates related to prevention education, as well as the investigation and adjudication of instances of sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking. These efforts have enabled greater access to services, while increasing consistency, transparency, and equity to administrative pro- cesses. Moreover, we revised our Resources and Options brochure, which provides information about reporting options, safety and interim measures, and confidential and other support resources. The UC Santa Cruz Police Department and Title IX Office played a major role in implementing these mandates. In addition to providing prevention education, much effort was placed into encouraging increased reporting of crimes, dangerous situations, and violations of the revised University of California Policy on Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment. Major crimes reported to the UC Santa Cruz Police Department in 2016 included an aggravated assault NONDISCRIMINATION POLICY STATEMENT and hate crime against a student, numerous burglaries and stolen vehicles, as well as crimes of opportunity such as theft.
