PRESS RELEASE OREGON HOUSE DEMOCRATS For Immediate Release For More Information, Contact: Sept. 18, 2017 Aaron Fiedler: 503-986-1904 Rep. Andrea Salinas sworn in as new House District 38 Representative SALEM – Rep. Andrea Salinas (D-Lake Oswego) was officially sworn in this morning as the new Representative for House District 38. Oregon Gov. Kate Brown delivered the oath of office on the floor of the Oregon House of Representatives. As the legislature kicks off three days of committee work, Rep. Salinas said she is ready to hit the ground running. “It is an honor to join the Oregon House and represent my fellow community members in House District 38,” Rep. Salinas said. “I am excited at the opportunity to continue the great work of my predecessor and advocate for every Oregonian. Though we have made great progress in recent sessions, there is still more work to be done.” Salinas joins the Oregon House after a career spent advocating for progressive causes at both the federal and state level. She has been instrumental in building support for some of the most important legislation passed in recent years including the statewide increase in the minimum wage and the Reproductive Health Equity Act. “I look forward to fighting for a fully funded public school system, lower prescription drug prices and a clean and healthy environment,” Rep. Salinas added. Salinas is a graduate of the University of California, Berkley. She replaces Ann Lininger who resigned to become a Clackamas County Circuit Court Judge. House District 38 includes Lake Oswego and parts of Southwest Portland. House Majority Leader Jennifer Williamson celebrated the addition of Rep. Salinas to the chamber and the House Democratic Caucus. “On behalf of the Oregon House Democrats, I am excited to officially welcome Rep. Andrea Salinas to this chamber,” Rep. Williamson said. “Though she is new to this position, Rep. Salinas brings significant experience with the legislative process. I know, on day one, she will be an effective champion for House District 38. I look forward to working with her to move Oregon forward in the months to come.” An announcement about Rep. Salinas’ committee assignments will be forthcoming. # # # .
