HELP WITH SECONDARY SCHOOL HOCKEY ENTRY FORMS Each team’s eligibility is determined by the placing that team received in the 2019 tournaments. To use this document, find out where your team finished in 2019 (see Appendix A of this document), then find the corresponding position in the headings below (boys on the left, girls on the right). Follow the instructions in that section. If your school is entering multiple teams, you will need to do this for each team. Once you have filled in the appropriate online entry form/s, move to Section 2 of this document. Section 1 - Which Tournaments Can I Attend? Tier 1 and 2 Tournaments Secondary School Boys Teams who finished: Secondary School Girls Teams who finished: Ø 1st – 26th at the 2019 Rankin Cup/India Shield Ø 1st – 26th at the 2019 Federation Cup/Marie Fry Ø 1st or 2nd at the 2019 Founders Cup, Johnson Trophy Cup or Mayhill Cup Ø 1st or 2nd at the 2019 Jenny Hair Cup, Audrey Timlin Memorial or Chica Gilmer Trophy Your team has qualified for the 2020 Rankin Cup/India Shield or Federation Cup/Marie Fry Trophy 32-Team tournament. If you are entering any other teams in tier 3-4 tournaments, enter them in the correct tournament as directed by this document. Then go to Section 2 of this document for further instructions. Tier 3 Tournaments Secondary School Boys Teams who finished: Secondary School Girls Teams who finished: Ø 27th – 32nd at the 2019 Rankin Cup/India Shield Ø 27th – 32nd at the 2019 Federation Cup/Marie Fry Ø 3rd – 15th at the 2019 Founders Cup, Johnson Trophy Cup or Mayhill Cup Ø 3rd – 14th at the 2019 Jenny Hair Cup, Audrey Timlin Ø 1st at the 2019 Coaches Cup, Olympic Stick or Memorial or Chica Gilmer Trophy Woolaston Trophy Ø 1st at the 2019 Eveline Hankers Memorial, Jenny McDonald Cup, Kate Trolove Cup, Mary Clinton Cup, South Island Secondary School Tier 4 Girls tournament or Rosemary O’Brien Cup Your team is automatically eligible to attend either the 2020 Founders Cup, Johnson Cup or Mayhill Cup for boys or the 2019 Audrey Timlin Memorial, Chica Gilmer Trophy or Jenny Hair Cup for girls. • If you wish to attend one of the above tournaments, enter the name of the tournament on the online Entry Form. PLEASE NOTE: Only 16 teams can register for any of the above tournaments. As not all tournaments had the maximum numbers last year there will be a few openings for 2020. These are a first in first served basis. IMPORTANT It is important before entering your team into a tournament that you have read this document in full. Section 2 – How to enter: Please use the online links located on the Hockey New Zealand Website to register your team(s). Extras If your team is combining you need to write a letter to the Hockey NZ requesting permission to combine. A list of players and the schools the players attend must accompany the entry. The Principals of all schools involved must sign the entry form. Each school must be affiliated to Hockey NZ.
